Yeah, those brass bushings are a pain. Those are the correct bushings. Try some penetrating oil and some vice grips wrapped in tape as to not damage the bushings.

Good luck!

I cant believe its been 4 years since I bought this, and I've done a little here and there but still have a ways to go. What do I need to rebuild these shocks?

Time... . Use Losi shock cartages. They will require a few spacers to make the shocks the same length as stock, but well worth the trouble. -Jeff

Wow - thats a great 'top-tip' - I didn't realise that the threads between the Losi & Schumacher bodies matched up?

@ Momo5 - sure looks like those shocks have dumped their oil all over the front end of your Cougar :(

It's hard to tell from the pics, but are those shocks the correct ones for a works? They look like the silver ones from the Team car, where the Works should have the dark green shocks.

Well, they don't really. However the diameter works, and the threads are close enough. The cartrages (plastic ones) will cross thread right in. I used them on all my cars for years. The factory didn't like it -but along with easier maintenance, also offered more droop range. -Jeff

I never had much luck with those plastic shock seal housings to be honest. They always seem to leak no matter how well I build them.
I am running the purple alloy shock seal housings. They work extremely well!
