I'm going to have to on the frame, nose, shocks, and A-arms to get everything to match up. I'm aware of Midwest anodizing, is there anywhere else that can get the gold right?

I was going to polish these pieces out, but decided not after laying everything out. It seems getting the right finish is just as important as getting the color mix right. I spent a few hours figuring out how to achieve a satin brushed look on the face of the towers, while polishing out the edges and inner circles on the rear. My camera really can't do it any justice...

I found today that I have a friend in the Anodizing business!

Stay tuned for pricing on doing an entire car... I hung around for a few hours while we tried out a few things. He has gold, but it was diluted to suit an old customer. One thing I did notice is that after stripping all of the parts and cleaning them, they were all easily ano'd the same color. Some pieces have a slightly different sheen than others, but very minimal. So we stripped everything I wanted to keep gold, and proceeded to what you see below. The noseplate on the left is the new ano'd color and the other pieces match. The nose piece on the right is an orginal un-used piece. To me, the new anno almost looks like the very earliest of the RC10 aluminum color. What do you all think? I can have my chassis done in the same color, or we are going to try and get closer to the more orangy gold of the later cars.

Your parts look really good. This is going to be a pretty nice car when you get it done.

Thanks Jake! Your handywork will really set if off. Jedi, it is looking like $85 minimum for everything including the chassis.
I liked the lighter gold, but I like the more orangy gold better and I didn't really want to re-do the Lohas 5-spokes. So... We stripped them again, and matched them to the new nosepiece from the previous post. Just tryin' to keep everything matching.

So you are going back and re coloring the front bulkheads and all? This monster will all be the same color?

Nope. Gonna do the silver and gold contrast. You like? My camera doesn't do any justice as to how these two colors really compliment each other. Everything in person also looks more matching in color as well. I thought about making all of the edges of the frame and nosepiece bare aluminum(silver) also.

That car looks swwweeeetttt!!! I really like the mixture of silver and gold. That gold anno looks just like one of my cars original anno. At least in the pics.

Can't wait to see more pics.

I think that might be the over the top edge, other than Jakes parts

, that I'm looking for. I did try a few different ways to do this on an old gold motor plate. It seems the best way was using a dremel with abrasive buffs.

Anyone spot the Traxxas chrome E-clips...

I couldn't resist.
One other thing in this build that I haven't decided on was what color to do the bulkhead, turnbuckle ends, and shock end mounts. I really wanna do a light or medium gray dye on them. Gotta figure the right formula on that. The black looks a little off. Plain white looks ok, but still a little plain. RPM makes two different shades of gray on turnbuckle ends, but I think they're metric and not sure if they'll fit the 4-40 rods I already have?
