Updates include:
-Finally found the rare part #1987 white stock gear cover. (Only part I was missing)
-Stripped chassis down for a thorough cleaning.
-Rebuilt the shocks and differential.
-Shock springs were very chipped. I removed the black paint and polished them up to their natural silver color.
-Replaced black spur gear with white one.
-I still need to find a body and the project will be complete!

Very nice. I like your work and attention to detail keeping that color scheme consistent.

have you guys had any luck with homemade decals? I was thinking about printing the image below using decal injet printer paper. Not sure on the quality though. Might have to try it soon and let you guys know how it turned out.
I once read you could print decals on standard paper, drench it in wood-glue and stick them on the inside of your body. Once it's dried up the glue gets transparent and you can start the painting.
I've never tried this myself and would certainly recommend to try it first on a scrap piece before going at an original body: including the paint; you never know if it reacts on eachother

Did you ever try the wood-glue inside decal trick?

Just to reopen an old thread, was sorting boxes and found mine, you can compare the original body, I am missing one white rear shaft, that elusive gear cover and a battery hold down, just as I bought it and forgot about it!

Nice truck Tim! Brings back memories.
Unfortunately those instructions for the body won't help much for the LS as they are different bodies. Yours is the original Blue Eagle with shorter rear arms and Blackfoot-style wheel adaptors. That one has a pick-up body and the LS version has a stadium truck body (same as the Nitro Hawk). Thanks for the trip down memory lane though. That truck was the first competition-level truck I ever owned. It was really ahead of it's time. I got mine new and the RC10T wasn't released yet. The JRX-T was it's closest competition that I recall, along with the RC10 monster truck conversions. To me, the Blue Eagle was just on a whole other level.
Here's my shelfer that I built from several ebay auctions I also have a NIP Traxxas body and decal sheet for it::
Oh, the gear cover you need for your truck is the clear lexan cover. It's the same as the white one, just older:
