It went from alright to ok, to bad to ok, to better and then good. I made a host of changes this Saturday and brought the car all over as far as setup goes, plus scuffing new tires.
Short short version is I had to lower the droop a bunch, and go a little stiffer on rear springs then I was trying. Also, I wasn't driving aggressively with confidence in fear of breaking white parts so I was peddling it everywhere. But, in practice after the mains I swapped to some AKA tires I was letting Miles scuff in, dialed up some boost and ran it hard ( broke a front bulkhead ) but I dropped almost a second per lap by letting myself just drive and not worry about the parts.
The good news is that the track owner is a vintage enthusiast and is joining here, and I met another member here that has not posted yet, plus there were guys coming to.my pit all day checking it out and watching it on the track.
I also found out when I was leaving that the ban on traction compounds is no longer there. So I should be able to knock another second off the lap times on Saturday.

Very cool Reg, glad you are driving it how it should be and making some good time on those laps. You probably have at least 500 bulkheads in your stash anyway, lol. Don't hold back and kick some arse.

Also while it was torn down, I decided to lighten up the chassis and trim it down to 21mm, round off the corners etc-pretty typical cut down BITD.

Hey im a real noob at cutting down chassis and wanted to cut mine down. What tool did you use to cut yours down?
Thanks.

Just a dremel with their large diameter reinforced cut-off wheel. I put masking tape over the parts I am cutting then measure and mark the cuts, then run the tool along the cut line slowly a few times making a groove, then start cutting all the way through.
Unless you are going to brace the chassis, I don't recommend going less than 20 mm at the sides or it has a tendency to spread and flex.

The wheels are turned but there's no pipe in the pic. How many cars went inside while you took the scenic route?? Don't make me come up there!!!!!!
