I wouldn't say impossible to find! lol.

I have some MRC wheels laying around this mess.

THEYTOOKMYTHUMB wrote:It cracks me up that they would sell that entire kit, but tell you to use "any strong material" to mount the servo.

That made perfect sense then, but imagine that in an instruction book today!

The kid would be like "Do what??

Where would I even buy material to make a mount?

". You still think it would be a given that they'd include the mount!

That makes this kit even more classic in my opinion.
Furthermore, did no one make a motor mount w/o the rear guard? The one on my main RC10 is cut off too because of a one time mid-motor conversion. You think someone would have just made a flat plate.

Maybe we've just lost sight that w/o the internet there was no way to distribute oddball parts like that.

I guess it just makes the oddball parts that much more collectible today.
Great score BTW!

Thats a very good point lol, it would be interesting to give a kit like this to a hobbyist that has only been into them for a few years, with all the RTR kits nowadays the real fun of using your brain has been lost.

Thats the problem now days. Video games have killed off so much in my opinion. Does anyone have pics of the MRC fronts? I only have rears and some slicks.

Ok im in an update mood today lol
B&R Sprint car update...
I built a graphite lower chassis plate and created a steering system from a hacked up Losi bellcrank and a A&L cross bar, I think i will change to the original steering setup when time is available.
I still have to add the top wing and figure out how the front wing mounts lol...
PS That is the second front tower i tried to dye lol, i must get all the towers that will not take dye

but its cool, i have some plack towers on the way lol

Looks good, but I would use 0.56" shocks in the front instead of the 0.71" you have right now or change to a 6 holes front shock strut. Keep up the good work!

As far as I know/can tell, the number corresponds to the stroke length. .56 = just a little over a 1/2 inch stroke etc... I can tell just by looking at them after all these years though

Nothing like a cool and informative thread , nvxwax thanks for your efforts . A local member contacted me a couple of weeks back and mentioned he had a big surprise for me , low and behold i get pictures of a B&R chassis .
I am curious about the body, any clue ? I also agree that the wheel tire combo can certainly be critical in a sprint build up .
Nice job Sir

A sprint car build is one of the concepts I've got imagined that I'm really eager to start work on. In fact, you could be of real help to me if I could get a couple of measurements out of you. Simply how tall the driver's cage is from the bottom of the chassis, and how tall are the side panels?
In exchange I can tell you where I figured out how to measure shocks. In the Dec. 1990 issue of RCCA, that I got out of the scans archive on this site, there's an article that has the useful dimensions of most of the popular shock brands from back in the day. While not the most up to date info, I've managed to pick up a good idea of what size shocks are what from the measurements in that RCCA article. However, if you want to get closer to Associated's official numbers, you can subtract the length of the shock while compressed from the length of the shock when extended to get a close approximation of the measurement Associated used to identify their shock shafts. To get Associated's length for the body you can do the same math while purposely using a shaft that's too long for the body.

Thanks, I hope to change out the modern wheels and tires when i get a set that will fit the bill lol
Of my sprint cars i like the B&R the most lol, I dont know how they performed in the past but they look wicked lol

Thanks for the info, Ill get you some measurements as soon as i get back in town, If i forget just shoot me a PM lol, I have a very short memory.

DUDE!! DUDE!! EGAD!! You just made my day! Man, I traded a bunch of parts for a mint one of these chassis about 15-20 years ago, & it's been just sitting there all this time. I suspected it was RC10-based, so after I registered here I glass-beaded the patina off, very pretty now, & was JUST gonna post a pic asking you chaps for info: I Googled it, and the result lead me right back to this thread: Man, it's like I'm destined to be here or sumpin'.
Dang, learned more in 5 minutes than the previous 20 years. That thing is as sharp as I thought it would be, maybe better! Now I'm all fired up seeing this. Soon-ish I'd like to do some nice wheels, shock towers, wing, etc. for it, if I do I'll letcha know if you're interested.
Was thinking of getting it chromed first if it wouldn't come apart, powder-coated if there's any risk on chroming. So, where'd you get the body, headers, etc? Dang, this is cool!
By the way, that nice rear end in the top pic: Any info on that? Very nice! Chris REC

Thanks
I would not go the powder coat route, I looked into it and a member here that does it said the B&R chassis are brazed and it might fall apart in the baking process lol, Im not sure about the chrome route, I dont know much about the process...
Im all about some wheels and parts for my sprint cars

Coolness, I'll keep you posted Mate: My rears will be 2.2 both sides most likely, izzat what the Slider tyres are? I'm gonna use Pro-Line Road Rages 'cause they're my fave tyre. Also trying to track down a O.S.FS26s-C 4-stroke engine for it, since it'll be run very little & I want the exhaust, sound, & badness of a 4-stroker.

They do not exist here, but I'm trying outvof the country, so......? Chris REC
