I think we need some rc snowmobiles. A brushless setup or something with a Zenoah or a Cy setup would be cool.

I didn't mind the 8"-10" of wet snow or the power going out for 36hrs+, it was the snapping of trees that drove me crazy. They started snapping at 3pm on Saturday and didn't stop until Sunday afternoon. At least those non-native flowering trees won't be making clouds of pollen next year.

Why so mush damage? Was it because of all the trees still having leaves on them?

Yes in my opinion, Kinda early for that much wet snow

YUP, that and the rate that it fell, the weight and alot of the trees had leaves on them.
750,000 still have no power in ct alone.

Why is snow in the northeast news? Doesn't it snow there all the time?
BTW, it was 85 degrees here on Sat, 89 on Sun and today it's a chilly 84.

The tree breakage might have been different if the snow was dry. Further north, in Peru, Mass they pulled in 32" of very dry snow, and Northeast of us in Schroon Lake, NY they only got a couple of inches.
Not sure if the kids will have Halloween tonight.

My parents' power in South Whitehall Township isn't supposed to be back on until about Wednesday.
We had a similar storm here in State College on October 15, 2009. Unreal tree damage and no power for over three days. It sucked then and I'm sure it's sucking for everyone affected now.
During Saturday's storm, we dodged a bullet and only got 3", so damage was minimal and no power outages.

Never this much this early which was the problem. The majority of the year its either snowing, raining, or cold. It also seems to be perpetually overcast as well.

I got my power back monday. No power at work until Weds. My parents 20 miles away still have no power, water-this is 7 days later. Sunday morning in CT was like a war zone. Trees down, telephone poles snapped, live electrical wires on the ground. Most schools have been closed all week. The saddest thing of it all was the disappointment on my kids face when Halloween was canceled. Sorry to bring up an old thread-just got my internet service back!
