C'mon arf! No time like a vintage race to jump in. It may open up a whole new world for you. Not to mention you couldn't pick a better group to get started with. :D
A world of end over end crashes, snapped parts, boxes of tires that won't hook up, beautifully painted bodies that get covered in grime...off road, I just might love it. :)

Hmmm, well, its not really a race yet... but if it will get more people seeing it I would be okay with that.

Does anyone know anyone else that would prolly come to a race like this?

I would be all for building a race, but would be hard pressed to go to a track owner and say "Hey, I would like to promote a vintage race at your track, I have 8 people interested, what do you think?"

Pretty sure I would get laughed at, so maybe its still just a dream race?

Okay, so while the list is building, lets talk rules and classes... What would you like to see?

And this is simply a discussion, no feelings are meant to be hurt because one person feels differently than another, :)

2wd:

Minimum mods to run current tires
92 and earlier (basicly first gen cars from most manufacturers RC10, JRX2, Ultima, TRX1 etc)
any electronics
17.5 blinky or 27T brushed

4wd:

Minimum mods to run current tires
92 and earlier (need guidance here)
any electronics
no lower than 13.5 or 19T brushed

I know if something starts to materialize, I can gather a few more racers locally.

This is a quote from Jimmy Babcock regarding the cancellation of the oval program at Hot Rod's:

"The paved oval will remain in tact until further notice so at anytime if the racers want to rally together and get a group of at least 25, we will be more than happy to create and schedule a race program. We would need 25 confirmed pre or verbal commitments via this message board to make it happen."

This may indicate that 25 confirmed entries are required to make it worth his while to schedule an event. You are 40 percent of the way there.

I appreciate the effort, although, this is nothing at the moment until I get people stepping up to the plate and saying they would attend, help or whatever. I would like to get involvement before we go out lobbying tracks. I am probably looking at something that may be a year or more away, not next month. Please do not go out asking tracks about this because when you get a bunch of people stirring the monkey pot, it turns into a joke and not serious thing.

Here is the thing, I know Jimmy very well... Well enough that if I contacted him and told him I have a group of people that would like to put on a race I would have his ear without his business response of 25 people or what not. If he is reading this because his interest is peaked, he knows that I will not even talk to him until I know it makes sense to be a discussion.

Please, we are not even close enough to go asking tracks yet. 40% there? great! My goal is 200% over that. Lets get to work.

This is an awesome start, thanks Joey!

For me, I would like to see a couple of classes for the new stuff... BUT to enter those classes you must be entered and participating in the corresponding vintage class, ie: if you are racing vintage 2wd, you may race new 2wd or it could be that you must be entered and participating in any vintage class before you are allowed to sign up/race any of the modern classes, or something to that affect. This race will need to be about the old cars and they will be the main event feature.

If anyone has any opinions or anything to add, feel free to jump in. For the record, please nobody get hurt feelings if someone else does not like something... this is only a discussion, the final product will have EVERYONES best interest at hand as best it can be.
