So the above posts got me thinking this afternoon (is that me or is there Toast burning somewhere? oh nevermind that is me thinking), if we stick to a high ratio of aftermarket parts that would still give us the ability to consider different chassis options or at least I would think, battery placement, shock towers etc. that would still greatly affect the outcome...should or would we consider going 'somewhat' outside the Associated realm and perhaps borrow parts from the Yokomo bin?

So I was a bit excited and started concept drawing today at work (and if my boss is into RC10's and is reading this, it was AFTER I was done that report HONEST!!!). Picture a 5 year old with big dreams a piece of paper and a crayon...this attempt was similar but I thought I would share none the less, it made me laugh if anything else, gotta love my mad MS Paint skillz!

I thought a double deck graphite chassis with three battery slots on the forward section and three lower towards a possible motor mount (belt drive a la Yokomo?). In the middle of the batteries would be receiver, esc etc.....the big black 'X' would be the top graphite reinforcement plate...possible rear swing arms a la Avante or perhaps A & J?? The front would mimic the B4 with the reverse shock tower and possible reinforcements like the 91' Masami Yokomo?

What? Build an RC10 and send it to Associated?

Maybe missing some key parts...like a body.

They could put one on it themselves when their magic bus arrives from China full of Protechs. :D

That is one sweet bug though. Kudos to TamiyaClub.

NOOOO! I was not planning to give our "collective treasure" to Associated, our would be so special, it would deserve to go to a member here, chosen with the "picture contest" for example... I just saw that bug the other day and thought we could do something WAY better with all the knowledge here... The idea lying behind was to wake up everyone and not seeing this thread sink like many others :D

If and when the car is built, it should be given by way of drawing or contest to those who participated in the build. It wouldn't really be fair for someone who didn't work on it to get it.

The scorcher was originally intended to be raffled off to pay for the bandwidth costs of the TC site. The problem with that is it took 4 years  to get all the parts together.

When it was finished the thought was to give it away in a competition but considering what it's worth (it's assembled from new parts and all the metal parts are gold and rhodium plated!) there was a probability the winner (chances are they wouldn't have contributed) could just put it on ebay and make a huge profit, not the best thing to do considering how many people donated the parts for it for free.

It was decided the best answer was donating it to Tamiyas museum where it would be put on display and no one would profit from everyone else's contributions.

I am prepared to participate knowing that I may see it on eBay a few days after it is given away. I personally would put it on the wall, but some people have plenty. They may need the money more. I think what TamiyaClub did is admirable but we will have to find our niche' for this.

I think you can hack the back up and install a 23cc Zenoah on it with a little bracket bending

OOOOh! That would be sweet! That motor won't affect handling or balance, will it?

How about the 91' Stealth car?

There seems to be enough half standard parts and some talented people in this form ;) that between all of us we should be able to figure it out lol.
