Yeah, I was curious about the design of the SC servo saver, if it had a screw going up thru it or if the body mount went down thru the whole thing like on the SS. I suppose I could always create a "bridge" across the headlamp mounts on the shock tower and attach a body mount to it, if there was enough clearance over the servo saver.

They are similar in design but the post going through the servo saver is a different dimension. If you have access to a lathe you could turn down the front SS body mount to fit into the SC servo saver

Hey guys, I did end up buying one from another guy on the board. I even got a ball diff!

Ive been doing some searching and there is a way to put a slipper using the df-03 kit. It negates the gear cover unless you cut out a hole in it. What I'm wondering is if I switch to lipo and brushless, won't the ESC overheat in the enclosure? Also, I'd like to relocate the servoto that front empty space. Finally, I saw A pic posted here with coil over shocks, what can I use? I've also seen a solid alloy wheel with small bolts where can you get those? In another thread there is a front cage bumper and different suspension setup from RC Channel, is there anywhere else to get that? 100 bucks is a lot.

I've got the alloy front bumper from rcchannel on ebay a few weeks ago. it was only $40 though, I don't know where you saw it for $100. i dont see one right now, but im sure it will pop up again. maybe try contacting them?

as for the alloy wheels, i recently bought a set for my super champ and my scorcher from rc_loverr for about $50 each. theyre real nice, seem to be built well, but i havent driven them so i cant comment on their performance though.

On the hunt for a Castle brushless motor now then I will try and figure out the lipo / servo thing. I'm thinking of going with the low profile Savox that I'm using in my RC10

I would advise you to not worry too much about performance, it's a Sand Scorcher after all. That chassis flexes like crazy - performance parts won't do much if at all. I'd say put the ball diff in, add a 19-23T brush motor equivalent and have a blast. But it's your project, so do as you please. Good luck, buddy.

Bimdapogs is right. Putting a brushless and lipo in this buggy is way overkill. I run a 17turn and a novak cyclone ESC and its all the speed I need. If you do go your original route, buy some body sets now cause you will need them later

Yeah I figured it would be a bit much. I read somewhere that some guys use small brushless motors like the ones for the rc18. I think a great alternative would be the cm26 motors that castle used to make but I can't find any of the milder ones out there.

those little bl motors are usually very high kv.

i'd go with a 21.5 or 17.5 at the most.

I was thinking of a 4600 - which is about a 13ish I think if I remember correctly. Hey worst case it blows up something and I have to replace it.

Seriously though - I won't be completely happy unless I know I've maxed the thing out. I do have a bunch of hot brushed motors I can run in it too but I've been so spoiled by brushless and lipo I just couldn't go back now.

Once you run it, you will realize why everyone is telling you to go easier on the motor selection. These cars were designed 15k rpm stock motors not the 60k+ brushless motors of today. The chassis simply can't take it. You're gonna break and bend a lot of stuff.

I gotta agree with the other guys. There is no reason to put a brushless in a sand scorcher. It's like putting John Force's top fuel engine in a Smart Car. I think you'll quickly realize it's just a big waste of money. I'd recommend a Tamiya Sport tuned motor and your favorite lipo. That will be more than enough power and the car will still be drivable.

Ok I will try it with one of my old brushed motors and see how it is.

What about a small brushless like one for a 1/18 scale car?

Like a 4200kv CM20?
