It was their first raceday. Most people were still trying to figure out setups. It looked like most were loose, especially the latemodels (short course truck chassis). There was one guy in the open sprints with a Custom Works car that had it hooked up good....Turned 39 laps in 4 min.

Bent, sad to say it looks exactly the same. Two bomber bodies on the way from McAllister. I will update pics as soon as the one color paint scheme is applied (half can of black metallic left).

Lipos and a transformer for the hand me down lipo charger are the next purchases. I should be running soon.

I've been acquiring all my goodies, as well. Now I'm waiting on the ESC/motor package...the shipping sucks.

Bodies came in on Friday. One was cut and masked by the end of the night. I picked up black paint at the LHS Saturday. No need to buy silver as I had a half can left.

When I paint in cold weather I first heat the paint up in hot water as they are stored in the garage. That was the case last year when I used the silver and the label came off.

As soon as the silver hit the lexan I realized it was the wrong paint. I checked the serial number on the bottom of the can... Testors chrome used for Kyosho Scorpion rims. Well, it will look cool for a minute!

Used 3300kv Reedy on the way. Lipos are next.

Thanks Rem. The body is the McAllister Devil's Bowl. I have bought a few of Gary's bodies. Very nice to deal with. www.mcallisterracing.com

She's starting to look good now. That devil's bowl fits better than I thought it would. Looking at the earlier pics, I think you're almost there.

What grit sandpaper did you use on the chassis ??? I used oven cleaner on the pinky chassis and then 1000 grit but i don't like that it is starting to polish the chassis...600 maybe...Trying for more of a machined look...

Rem,

I used oven cleaner for the majority of the work, 150 and 220 sandpaper to finish. I do not suggest this rough paper if you are concerned about the finish. You can clearly see every mark from the sandpaper and is far from a polished finish.

Update... the ebay $25 "works amazing and looks great" Reedy 3300kv motor came in the mail. I should have known with the factory picture "if it sounds to good to be true..."

It certainly didn't look great, actually looked beat. No big deal. Without running I could tell the bearings were toast. The motor barely turned 11k rpm on a fresh 5000 nimh battery. I will see what the seller has to say before I post his ebay id as a hack.

Russ, thanks and yes we are almost there. Hope to meet you soon.

That sucks about your purchase...Hopefully whoever you bought that from will man up and make it right...I will try the 600 grit then...I want the sanded marks on mine lol...Rat rod style...
