So you think leave it as it sits now? From some paper work it looked like he raced the car in an indoor track, I guess this is what the oval track is you are speaking of. I am going to redo the gold pan, not sure what I will do with the other parts.

Anyone know how to get the shock off of this part? It looks like this pin sinks down in the arm holding the rod that the shock rides on. Ideas?

it's a set screw, unscrew it out of the hole and it will release the shock pin.

if you haven't already studied the manual, do that, it will help tremendously.

Was it common or is it common to stick the receiver with tape to the tub? Just trying to take the old one off and I see no screws.

yep, double sided tape to attach receiver, speed controllers and sometimes servos. it's a pain to get off, you have to pry gently until it lets go, without damaging the component or the chassis. once you get it off, it's a combination of wd40, acetone, goof off, etc. various solvents take off various tape, so you have to try them all to see what works. if you use wd40 or goof off, a nice bath in dish soapy water makes it squeaky clean. be cautious of certain cleaners on the anodized parts, such as simple green, greased lightening, etc. certain cleaners will damage aluminum so be careful and check the packages.

I have 2 of these. Anybody know anything about the motors?

Trinity were popular motors back in the day. I would guess this is a stock class 27 turn judging by the plastic end bell and fixed timing. I have some modified ones with aluminum end bells. Good motors.

Take that pin out. I use needle nose pliers and pop it out. Then the drive will come out of the hub.

Thanks johnboy72, I thought about trying that but I wasn't sure. This build is gonna be a little harder than I thought. Now that I have everything apart I am having trouble finding what screw fits what. It's not a race and I have no deadline to finish so I will just keep trudging along.

Good looking buggy. I am in about the same boat as you. Recently got my first RC 10, and have run it a bit. Going thru now and cleaning/seeing what needs replacing/ figuring out what should be upgraded. If you don't have a manual for it, here is an online scan of one. Big help to me. I downloaded it to my laptop and kept it open while working on the buggy yesterday.

The pin came right out, pretty easy just had to use a little elbow grease. I got the car completely disassembled now, soaking the parts and I am going to scrub them later tonight, rinse with water and soak in peroxide.

I want to rebuild the gold pan but only for a shelf queen. I want it to run but I probably will never put it in the dirt. I do want to get a new modern day buggy/stadium truck to run I just don't know which one.

Glad to hear you got it apart. Need to take the rear axles off mine at some point. And yes, I am a firefighter, on the job for 17 years.
