Serious question... do you have any of this written down? I mean what is in your brain? You (or we) really should do that. That fact that you have your facts straight, or straighter than most, is what I respect about you the most. The written word is irreplaceable, whereas thoughts do us not much good.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

If you want to combine forces we should talk. My brain is full of useless info...

Tidy - very late here - but the Parsecs are simply just S E X ! What a great car.......the triple shock set up is awesome!

How did I miss this thread - been a little pre-occupied of late.

LMK what you need and I shall have a look at what I have left.

Have to get those team AYK cars out that I have too..damn they are pretty !

Cheers

Thanks for the motor tuning info temple, that's what I though you meant but like I said I'm a n00b, when it comes to tuning.

I'll be interested in the motor if it's still for sale after Christmas, but I am broke 'till then.

Here are some pics of my Parsec. These are older pics. I have cleaned it up some since and found the front shocks. I still need 2 small side shocks, their springs and mounts. Also need the mount for the front shocks. but here is what I have.

Darryn I also sent you a PM;)

The top deck looks home made and those are Schumacher battery straps.

I'd seen the straps on a shumie, the top deck is very nicely made, but it could be homebrewed. Also the T plate does look suspiciously trimmed in the front. Whoever modified this car was at least somewhat skilled. Nice flush countersinking of the suspected non-OE holes, etc. :| Darn those skilled butchers!

There's plenty of history out there, but it's fairly scattered... :?
In Europe we had Lectricar and Mardave making electrics in 1975, simple aluminium plate chassis without even chassis flex for suspension, with ABS bodies. By the time the Japanese kits were being imported the 1/12th scale class was full of scratchbuilt cars at the top level, at club level AYK and Graupner were the cars to have, the front wheel drive Graupners being a lot easier to drive in the slippery indoor surface. Jerobees were around but until the Lightning arrived if you bought an American car it was a RC12E. The ball diff came about by Cecil Schumacher looking at his son's diffless Mardave chassis and coming up with a design that would fit in there. Unfortunately the ball diff concept was found in a lawnmower design from the turn of the century so he couldn't patent it.

We raced indoors in sports and village halls, which meant polished wood floors using armaflex foam coated in silicone for tyres. A drop in the minimum weight limit in 1979 meant that Tom Morgan developed a new lightweight lexan chassis design, which was so good it won the 1980 Euro champs. This went into production as the Phantom, soon followed by the SG/Greeno SLX and the Schumacher first car, the XL. These were a unique design made of a channel of folded lexan so they were very flexible to generate grip on the polished wood surface we raced on - they gripped so well we needed to run very soft front tyres to get them to steer.

1982 saw the start of carpet racing, so suddenly we had a surface that was easy to drive on. This coincided with the introduction of the RC12i, which became the car to have until Schumacher developed the B and C cars. Schumacher was the car to have for years until the Corally appeared. Associated won many of the big events though, usually due to Mike Reedys box of motors and batteries rather than the cars themselves.

I could go on, but that should do for now :D
