Today it was 50 degrees, and most of my snow has melted. I decided to take the Hawk 2 for it's first run in my yard, I never ran it in the snow.
I installed the old Trinity Green Machine that came with it, put some worn old Dirt Hawgs on the rear (since I did significant on-road driving and wanted to spare the Calibers), and went to town.
Originally, I'd planned for this to mostly be a track truck. However, it's been on the track twice, and it's handling still needs work. It's getting there, but it still needs more tuning. I realized, though, that it's really more of a basher than anything else.
I was pretty easy on it, but it was fun. I drove for about 30 minutes on the 3300mah lipo before I decided to come in. The motor wasn't even warm and the battery had a good charge left.

That looks like some fun there. We are just getting rid of the snow here. I will be out running a few trucks soon enough.

My original JR-T gets run a few times a year and I will beat around a few RC10T's I bought from a few board members here.

Its a great truck, real fun to bash around with. Not very competitive though... But what can you expect when there's no bellcrank steering :( :?

That's what I've realized. It was actually a combination of that and hearing about all the fun you had with yours that convinced me to bash it more.
Tuesday it got driven around my backyard track for the first time. It soaked up the bumps very well, with surprising stability and predictability.
Harry697, thanks again for selling me those shocks.

Yes the truck is very stable and predictable. I enjoyed mine for over a year but eventually sold it and kept my SRT and TCP which have bellcrank steering...

Super late update, I sold this truck in September at the Vonats. I sold it as a roller, no electronics, body or tires, but otherwise complete. I made some laps with it on the track first and it did pretty well. I have a video somewhere.
I can't remember the name of the guy I sold it to. He had a bunch of other vintage Traxxases and was running a Traxxas buggy (a Bullet I think?) in Classic class.
