My first ever efforts in painting lexan with horribly poisonous Tamiya paints. Really horrible chemicals.
Making window masks.
Masks in place.
Shell has no overspray film so having to improvise.
First coats are Tamiya Mica Red, one of the colours Arcocustom used on his Beetle shell.

You'll notice that in fact I added black features to the body first of all. Then backed up the red with silver as suggested by Arcocustom. Got some really good lines and some not so good with the Tamiya tape. I have also decided to add a feature of white circles on the doors to place the number 4 decals in.

Nice job with the paint, I still have to get around painting my tamiya sand scorcher, was thinking camel yellow but very confused with what paint scheme to go with, I have decided to go with mate black. I think it will contrast well with the alloy parts. A neutral color that will blend well.
I have posted some pics posted on DennisM's post of 'beefy scorpion'

So a year long I'm looking at fitting more of the Assault parts to the Beetle. The Assault rollings chassis already donated it's bumper to the all original Scorpion (just order a body for that), its wheels to the Beetle and it's rear shocks too. However the Beetle is still running a 1983 style front end so the beefier Assault front shocks and other hardware for the donor car are there ready to use. In addition there is the one piece cross braced rear arm mounting plate which I believe they supply with the rereleased Scorpion these days.
Assault chassis today:
Cross brace.
8mm shocks on Beetle:
Notice the clamps holding the front arm shaft on a different too:

Yeah the Assault chassis was a great buy what as it the gearbox also contains a silky diff not to mention pretty straight rails and the rear cross member.
