Not necessarily. The Optima (for example) uses hinge pins & flat spots with set screws all over the place and it seems there's always something coming loose...even when they're threadlocked in. A set screw is only as good as the material it's threaded into, unfortunately, and each R & R, those threads get a bit looser, at least in the case of plastic/nylon.

You made a valid point too. If you'd said "better" instead of "forever", I would've had nothing else to say. Grinding flats in those 2mm crosspins is necessary to bulletproof CVDs so they don't come apart too easily...same idea proving your point.

I had also to make a choice regarding the gear cover.
I saw ont he runner topic that BMKTW2 got some leaking issues on this part.

Then, I choose the modern RPM cover, with a bit of rework, reducing the diameter like this:





Also the cut on the lower fixing point allowed me to rotate a little bit the gear cover.
May be it will be safer ont he track like this...in spite of the bad aspect ( but limited by a little blak paint job). I will see on the track lately.

After that, I worked on the shock towers.
I ordered new ones, in a french asso specialized in graphite prototype work for RC cars: Alien Racing.

I did not know that different size were available....I have to precise that there is not any contact (but nearly for sure) between the gear cover and the head screw here.
Anyway, a smaller spacer would be a problem for the schock area (may be contact also with the turnbuckle).
This is due to the schock choice I made: modern one for performance, and also in order to have a complete spring availability. This is the oportunity I got (we are getting near the end now):

I am blocked at this time. Cannot go further due to a delivery issue on my final order to make the car a real runner.

I have ordered on the 5th of february my last parts in a big US shop known as selling parts to get in the 'top final'....
The shipping is confirm the day after, and I felt so comfortable with this.
Without any news on the 6th of March, I have checked on the USPS website, and saw that the package were stopped in San Francisco (surely a nice place to be) since the 7th of february...
Then I selected a special option in the USPS delivery website; a kind of shippiing evolution notification. The day after, the package retarted to move again....

If I got it in the next days (it's in France now), I'll be able to reach my timing target: a local race club in 10 days. To be there on the track with the eagle LS will be a first win for me!!!!!!!

From my shipping overseas experiences you usually won't have tracking after San Francisco. That's a US customs and for some reason from there they won't update.

That has taken quite a while tho!

After San Francisco, the package went from USPS to Parcel Force worldwide delivery service, for Europe.
I still have a continuous tracking for this.

I found back this car in the garage lately, and changed the chassis because the previous one were really to flexible.

In the case that I come back to an original planetary diff gear for this car, like for rustler and other modern cars: what oil density would you recommand for it ? (dirt slippery use when used )
