Small update.
I finished making the front gearbox spacer plate from Acetal/Delrin today. It replaces the many alloy spacers and makes it a completely sealed unit now. Really pleased with it.

And in situ.

More soon.

Thanks for the comments fellas. :D

I'm working on some more home made bits for it now. Plus more mods on the front arms. Also waiting on the Postman.

I should have another post ready in the next two weeks.

I weighed the modded rear gearbox against a stock gearbox and the results are, stock 136.4 grams, modded 85.8 grams.
And even more coming soon. :D

Chain drive! I didn't see that coming... though it makes sense.
Aren't you worried the chain is gonna rub on itself running forward and backward that close together?

Firstly, this is shaping up beautifully. Question, it's hard to see from the photos but how is your clearance for the front dog ones/CVDs?

It looks like it'll rub in the photos but the chain is quite slack. When I turn the spur and put the chain under tension the top half levels up a fair bit giving more clearance. It may slap together a bit after landings and off throttle but greater concern was battery clearance. I'll probably have to run a third guide just in front of the battery to keep the lower half of the chain from rubbing on it.

Plenty of clearance at the gearbox/shocktower area. It is going to be a little tight around the shocks ballend.

It would have been easier to mount the gearbox back a little and not modify the bottom of the shock towers but I wanted the front dogbones to sweep back from the gearbox to the front wheels rather than sweep forwards.

A slim piece of lexan would be a good rail for the slack chain to rub against instead of clashing with the tensioned chain, I think you will see that loose side flail around when driving. I can almost hear that awesome chain sound now....love it!!!!

That it would Jeff. I'll see if it's needed when I get to run it.

Yeah, I reckon this things going to be pretty noisy.

Real men drive rear motor chain drive buggies! Beautiful work. Are machining by hand or creating cnc files?
