I had the same issues when I did my blue FT metal B3 build (you can see it in my gallery) and bought two packages of FT screws and still didn't get all of the ones I wanted to use. I went all out on it with a lot of stuff. I even used the unobtainium shock shafts like you did.

I built another B3, my yellow and blue creation that's listed in the for sale section. I also have a pile of B3 parts I think I'll list (mostly runner stuff) because I feel like I've been there, done that for building B3's. Now a B2...

It would have been nice if the screw pack had included a simple list of where they intended them to be used. Oh well.

Agreed and also the aluminum screws are tricky to use since they can strip easily.

Especially screwing into the carbon.
I used a steel screw with the same thread pitch to chase out the holes before I put the purple ones in. Didn't damage a single one that way.

Looking forward for smooth, yet how can it help with the belt tension? what is your decision for chassis?

The B2 doesn't have a belt; I went with the short carbon chassis.

Great method. So obvious once someone mentions it. Not sure I would have thought to do that.

Just finished strip and rebuild of a cadillac RC10.. now it's time for a NIB B3 build.. can't wait!

A little more progress. I think I have everything I need now to complete this, except the original rear tires.
Because this is a rebuild, not completely new from old stock parts (although it is about 75-80% new), there are a few reused parts I will keep an eye out for over time, and probably replace when I come across NOS pieces - if the cost isn't too ridiculous. It was never meant to be absolutely perfect, just period correct and as nice as I could get it for a reasonable amount of money spent to do it. (Since when are we reasonable with the cost of this stuff )
The body is masked and sitting, waiting for me to draw out the design on it. Still going around in my head what it will end up looking like - I've changed my mind at least half a dozen times.

The wheels are taking a lot of time. They are one of the things I did not replace, though they certainly could use it...pretty gnarly, between the lousy paint and the scratches. The front looked just as bad as the rear, but once I got the paint off, they had much less scratching to deal with.

As I got them

with the paint and loose grime removed

and with some initial sanding to remove scratches...

again, these will never be perfect, like when new...but it's a helluva improvement over how I got them...

Finally had some time to work some more on this...I'm the sound engineer for our village Minstrel Show each year, and this past week was practices for several hours every night, and the show on Friday and Saturday nights...plus I DJ'ed the party after the Saturday show. I didn't roll out of bed until after noon today.
Anyway, I got the wheels done well enough to be satisfied with them. Holding the car in your hands, you can see the imperfections, but as I said earlier, these are original to the car, and I'd rather have nice refurbished than new but incorrect. I'll keep my eye out for replacement NOS and then I can use these for a runner. Since I did replace so many parts on this car, I have almost all I need to make a second one...which I will probably do eventually.
The original car had Pro-86 tires on the rear, but I've had no luck so far finding a set of NOS. The rears that were on there when I got the car were Suburbans, so I didn't want to use those. For now, I'm using a nice set of Pro-88's that I had sitting on the shelf. They're close enough until I find the right ones.
I still haven't decided on an ESC or receiver...I have a bunch, but since I never intend to run it, I kinda like the cleaner look without more gadgets on it.
The only other things left on the chassis are replacing the B3 carbon top plate with a B2 when I find one, and if I can't find a set of nice aluminum shock caps before long, then get these redone.
Then the body paint...
