once he finished mocking it up for gear mesh and etc, we will work on its placement. Ideally, it will bolt to the tower and chassis but depending on its orientation that will change

Yup, that's my thinking too, probably two screws through the chassis and two through the tower. It will be a simple matter of adding some bosses to the case.

I love where this is going. Great work. The steering is going to be a challenge to get the geometry right, but I know you guys will figure it out!

Thanks. Jeff and i already have some ideas we're working on for the steering. We'll get it, no doubt.

Got the transmission to fit neatly under the body
The parts will be on their way to Jeff in a day or so for him to work on the steering and tower.
I'm going to order these today. I've modified them since I first posted a pic to have the same camber link geometry as rc10 caster blocks

I heard about that filament the other day. I don't think Shapeways is doing any FDM printing, but if they are I don't see any reason they couldn't offer that material. For that matter though, I could probably try some of that material when I get my printer

For me I don't have a history with the RC10, yet as a vintage RC car hobbyist , I can't deny its classical looks, and effect on RC history.

I wanted to do a worlds 91 but I may sit tight for this setup to be available. Guess I'll need another Worlds re-re kit for the donor/base of this build.

Couple more progress pics.
Thr front gearbox fits well with the nose in lwb mode. Since MIP made you extend the nose anyway I don't feel too bad doing the same. The bellcranks will actually work well where they are with the longer b44 steering knuckles too. The front gearbox will sit pretty close to how it is shown here but currently has no actual mounts. Nice wide belt for modern brushless power.
The front tower will look correct with body on, but had to be severely changed under the body line to get the gearbox in there. There is more meat than MIP gave us, so I feel confident the durability will be OK.
I need to get ordering more belts and pulleys, I can only hide the belt being too short and old having one pulley for so long before you guys are gonna want a pic of the whole car

front tensioner will follow as well

While Jeff has the car, I'm starting to work on the design of a custom rear bulkhead that will have the opening for the belt and integrated mounts for the belt roller.
