I never ran the original Optima - I managed to get hold of one of the "Gold Celebration 100,000" models, but other than special decal on the box, there's nothing to distinguish it from another "gold" optima. I don't think I'd buy a rere, and mine's still in mint condition, and the body is still unpainted. I'd love to find someone who could do a box cover paint job on the body to finish this thing.

As for the original/Turbo Optima/Salute/Javelin, if you buy 10 used ones, you'll be lucky if one or two of them has a completely straight front skidplate. 2/3 or more will have bent shock towers...especially the rear. ;)
Yeh, but you gotta figure, there's a HUGE difference between me getting a used one 20-25 years ago, and someone getting a used one now. Back when I got a used one, they weren't that old. I could still walk into a hobby shop and buy parts too. Now, they've had 20+ more years to bend/break something.

Reading on the Tamiya forum (of all places), an Optima seems like a done deal. I REALLY hope so.

I know that the car I wish for is not very popular, but I would love to see a new Pro-X. Possibly one with a good tranny lol.

I have always loved the design and it was my first built kit.

For a second I thought that was the next re-release, and I was going to be very sad.

Old thread but as of 2017, I would like to see the Ultima Pro re-released.
