Thanks. Those large ones sure are interesting.
That front gearbox looks pretty good. Are you planning on keeping it open like a trackmaster, or closed like the frog one?

It's going to be enclosed , I have some acetal on its way here that I can mill into shape for the filling in the sandwich , it's all going to be rounded off and made more pretty as well , what I've made so far is just the holes in the right place in the metal plates ,it's a long way from how it will look , I could not cope with an open gearbox , my first ever radio control car was a Tamiya Sand Rover and it had an open top gearbox and just chewed up gears in no time .

The plastic arrived yesterday and so it was milling time this evening , it's now an enclosed gearbox , pictures tomorrow .

yesterday I made up the centre part of the gear housing and flowed the edges , still needs more work but I'm pleased with it.

Today i made up the mounting plate for the front gearbox , this replaces the original chassis plate that would support the servo saver and the cross bar that goes between chassis rails , it all fits in pretty well , i'll have to chop some of the front of the plastic tub to give clearance for the gearbox and for the chain but it should be possible to leave the battery compartment untouched .

Nice work! Love these builds. I have a few on here in various stages.

As far as her shoes are concerned, if it were me I'd angle harder towards your first goal in the first post and get your hands on a set of Holiday Buggy wheels (if you revisit what you got up in the front.) The hexe's are functional, but I'm not convinced a Holiday Buggy set wouldn't be narrow enough to to make work somehow. CRP aluminum outer's would also be machinable.

I'm still up in the air over wheels , I'd really like an old school looking wheel tyre option and the front tyres on there at the moment are just to have it rolling on something , i really don't like the modern holiday buggy wheels , the tyres are ok but there are plenty of options .

Oh heck no. I mean the real deall Holiday buggy rears. I wish, I still had the photos of Eustace Moore's Skoal Bandit 4wd from that period. It was an srb but it ran them.

The modern holiday buggy is the biggest piece of re re garbage that I can think of.

My first hobby grade car was a Sand Rover.......Open gearbox , brass UJ's ,fibreglass suspension spring .... The modern re re has to be better ! But i agree on the tyres .

Thanks for the kind words .
I've been chopping up the tub this evening and it's looking promising , I'm going to have to mill out a space in the new front chassis plate so the gearbox can be mounted 3mm lower , I'm still hoping i can keep the shock towers but it's looking like I'll have to make a pair that make the shocks more upright so i can move the gearbox forward a little , this will be good in that it reduces the angle of the drive shafts and give a little more room for a steering system .............. I hope .

Did a bit more cutting of the tub , its still a little rough round the edges but i think i have the clearance i need for the chain , i also cut the front under-plate so the gearbox fits into it and lowers the gearbox the 3 mm i needed , i might just get away without making new shock towers as there looks like enough clearance for the drive shafts , I'm going to have to extend the shafts about 10 mm but that's easy enough . One other thing on the list is to make up some guide pulleys and a tensioner .
