I know, I landed really lucky indeed. As i mentioned a little further up the post the same guy called me up a while after gifting me the red car to say he had cleared a little more of his storage and had a box of bits for me to take away - 'mainly Tamiya' were his words.

It ended up being this lot, so I actually have a few of these to build up. The rusted one is just my first go at it.

Very nice. I love the scorcher. I spent months trying to find one that wasn’t priced ridiculously. I finally picked one up and am trying to decide how to build it. I love all the scale work you’ve done. Is the motor a 1 off or is someone producing that?

I have always wanted a Sand Scorcher. I honestly think this is why I build full size VWs. Nice score and looks great.

It was a lucky eBay find. From what I gather the guy who pit it together made a few of them and sold them off quite a number of years ago, and this was the last one he had held on to.... and then decided to sell. It turned into a last-minute bidding war but i was determined to get it for this build.
