Next steps will be building the front end, servo saver assembly and track rods. Also mounting these devices to the front chassis plate.

Front end parts cleaned. Steering arms come as one stamped steel part and need seperating and deburring.
Suspension arms need some deburring too. I will use the stock suspension arms for this project, as this is also what came with the kit.
There was another version with 15° of castor machined into the bottom of the arms, these will go into the next RC300 project, let´s say a RC300 Expert or RC300 custom.

Front end completed.
The tubular kingpins are fixed to the suspension arms by two clips. Mounting these clips actually require a special tool, a reverse action bow opening plier.
Mounting the clips with that tool is a snap, without ...

Building the track rods actually should be one of the next steps. Now I realized I can´t find no. 2533 steel ball joints at my parts boxes.These are the balls which go into the no. 2532 plastic ends.
If someone have such steel balls please contact me. I have other RC300 parts for trade.

Hi Gunther, is there anything that identifies these 15° castor machined arms to the non-expert builders eye?

Alan, it´s really easy to see the difference for these suspension arms if you have a look at the bottom side.
The stocks arms are just molded. The 15° arms are machined at the bottom so they are angled. Also you can see the machined surface what looks somewhat rough ... and they left the debris from machining process there.

Have you a base to restore or are you assembying the complete car only with NIP parts ?

I have no RC300 to restore. The car will be built right from NIB parts. This is not the first time I´m doing project like this but it´s quite difficult and interesting at the same time. I have built other cars before with searching for parts for up to 5 years or more.

This is a photo for showing difference between stock suspension arms and the 15° version.
15° version could be seen at the right side. You can see the base plate being thinner at the rear hole compared to front hole.
So if you have a closer look to the arms you will see the right one being more angled, because of the additional castor machined into the base plate.

Very cool build, I love all the detail/documentation!
Did they just machine the 0-deg ones to make the 15's?
And, for those of us (well, me anyway
) that don't know anything about it, when was this car released?
