What’s the cost for a 1000 left side outdrives or 1000 shock rebuild kits it has to be penny on the dollar.

I will invest in these items and I bet I can make my money back on this quantity no profit.

Excuses and opinions are like assholes everyone’s got one and that message from Curtis is a prime example, how about letting us make it happen?

Am I crazy off base do I have this all wrong??

As pointed out, it's not the old AE. Thunder Tiger owns them so they might just be nixing this period. To your point, how much investment would it require to have the old parts produced? Probably not much but to a company like Thunder Tiger in a compressing industry they'll just shut down that notion. They don't care about supporting legacy products; only the bottom line and vintage cars/parts don't cut it in that world.

Is Thunder Tiger (China)?

Penguin bodies are first rate, highly recommended, better than some OEM’s.

As far as parts moving forward, I would like to see dhawk release their parts in machined nylon 66 instead of alloy, that would cover a lot of bases. Bronze front arm mounts would be nice too! :D

Thanks for your comments regarding Penguin.

As for dhawk, that's an excellent suggestion. Care to reach out to them??
Also, knowing very little about dhawk or what they make, I'd reckon that if they can machine parts like alloy trans cases, they should be able to make out drives, axles, ballstuds, etc. I'd bet that the normal consumable items would outsell trans cases 10:1.

Edit: here's Steve's RC10 with his Protech body as posted on ebay.uk

With Protech 2, Mirage and many others available from Penguin, I think that just about covers it for bodies.

I'm glad I saw the end of this thread......just so happens that, sitting under my bed in a box is a perfectly preserved pristine untrimmed unpainted, and untouched original release (not the re-release) viper body for the RC10.

I would be happy to donate for the cause for an itsy bitsy small favor...... Who do I need to get in touch with to help preserve history?

TBG will usually give you at least one (can't remember - might be two actually...) repop body as a thank-you for supplying the original...

you can drop Jon Ellis a line here: [email protected]

"donate"?
I'd assumed that the reproduction process is non-destructive so they'll return your original body.
Is that not correct??

it is destructive, and they keep your original. Last time I donated they were giving you three copies and a percentage off any other bodies purchased at the same time.

Having just received 2 bodies from Penguin I feel that they are pretty good.
The Protech body is good and solid even at the rear shock tower area. Details are nice as well.
That said there are fair amount of very small dimples mostly on the hood below the windshield. Probably from dirt/dust on the mold.
The Parma Eagle has the same very good overall thickness and detail but still has some dirt/dust imperfections.
The dimples may not show when they are painted.
Overall, I think that they are quite good. Maybe not concours quality but works for me.

Okay, hmmm. I guess, for my part, since the bodies TBG makes aren't a perfect copy I will hang on to my AE RC10 originals -- at least until Penguin and others stop making reproductions and there are no other options. Just curious; do we know what causes TBG's bodies to be undersized while those from other sources don't seem to have that problem?
As for the dimples and other flaws being visible, I guess that will depend upon the color. White hides imperfections while black will show everything.
Hey Chuck, do you recall the time required to receive your order from Penguin and if there were any import taxes, etc.?

I ordered Aug 6th and got the bodies about 2 weeks later. I could not find a way to track. Shipping was Royal Mail International Standard.
Very similar to JCracing wheels and their shipping times.
I did request combined shipping for two items and was quickly sent an invoice.
There were no additional fees. Not for customs or for the second body.
