That's a beautiful restoration job on that chassis, lots of work put into all the aluminum-nums...but that chassis is crying out for some color! Can't wait to see it with a body mounted.

Thanks for comments all. Here it is with the body cut and fitted. So the paint job is up next..I don't tend to go with box art, so I'm thinking of either staying with the box design but using yellow & blue from the standard Rocky scheme instead, or going with a different design from box art altogether.

I've also attached some side-by-side chassis pics of the Turbo vs Standard in case anyone is interested at looking at the differences.

Such an attractive looking car and you've done it real justice , I'm surprised its not more popular ?

Thanks Dadio. As for its popularity, I think it was down to timing. Although it had some major upgrades over the standard Rocky (which itself was a good car), from memory it was released around the same time as the Optima Mid, so people that were upgrading from entry level 4WD cars were going for the Mids. I don't recall actually seeing a Turbo Rocky at my club in the late 80's...but it was a long time ago!

I have always liked both Rockys and have a pair that need their own restorations. I think the Turbo variant is definitely scarce, especially in the US. As far as I know, it was never formally distributed here via the usual channel, i.e. Great Planes.

No progress with the paint job but the replacement bumper arrived this week, still amazed you can get these parts after 30 years for a model that didn't have the success & popularity that the Optima had. Makes a big difference to the front end appearance

Yes it would. They're in the queue! Hopefully this winter. They actually don't need too much work and I plan on occasionally running both, so I don't need/expect perfection.
