I'm not sure but I think Jason used a low-profile servo to get the pack to fit.

My low profile servo gave up and after replacing it with a standard servo I had to return it to the original battery orientation.

Some thing you can do to gain place: if the wires come out on the side end, orient them facing the rear bulhead: they 'l sit over the hingepin part you mentioned.
Use servosver with ballstud on the backside so you can advance the servo as far as possible.
You can also stand-up the servo, but that's gonna mean modifying the top plate and possibly issues with mounting the buggy body.

thanks ed, waiting on tower to ship my servo and then ebay/kyosho/avid and will test fit to see what kinda battery i need.

i was thinking of running a non lipo pack, 4 cells bottom (2x2), 1 cell "sideways", and 1 on top? lol sounds weird, but ill make it fit..

got rid of those platinum shocks and opted for some rc4wd black anodized shocks.. they are incredibly smooth, and fit really well.. and since they are made for crawling, they should hold up well, what u guys think.

picked these up too, not kyosho, dont know what they are, but for $14 i figure i cant go wrong lol

The piggy backs should face inwards: less chance of getting hit in a crash
Any reason you use those washers on your screws. I think countersinking them into the topplate and tower will make it look smoother.
don't forget about those flanged bearings: it really is a very good way to improve the gearbox.

i did use flanged bearings too.. i bought on ebay a while ago a "Option House Special Gear" it was called, which is a 48p large, 32p small gear, with a metal insert for the bearings, and made of a hard composite, ill post some pics. Basically lets me run 48p pinions and seems alot strong.. I did use a washer too with the flanged bearings, fits perfect.

i did countersink originally, but i fk'ed up a few countersinks.. so the washers cover them lol. minor minor minor f'up but the washers hold the plate stronger i think.. i dont know lol..

for the battery: why not old style Tamiya bump pack: 5 side-by-side and 1 on top.
Depeneding on how you orient the pack it will allow you to shifthe center of gravity for or aft

OR go brushless and 5 cells

That spur was the standard on the ultima pro. It really is a lot better than the original, but it is not 48dp. Make sure you have the right module kyosho pinions or it won't last you very long

tulsa (scot) has a nice set of equalizer shocks in the BST forum. Those would look sweet on this. Fantastic looking buggy. I love Ultimas.

Have you tried TowerHobbies? .6 mod is metric 48 pitch. Robinson Racing makes some.
