i'd take the 5 link off in favor of the h-arms, unless the 5 link setup works alright the way it is. then go beat the piss out of it. :wink:

good idea, if he has those arms and the carriers for them... otherwise Davids idea is easy enough...if it's even necesarry: does the fact those links angle inward to the front make a real big difference?
Maybe you should just correct the steering like david said and then try it as it is. Gives you a good idea if it's worth much work before you dive in.

probably not. just as long as there's not binding issues, it would be fine. the only problem might be the lower shock mounts where they attach to the lower links.

If I were you I would strip it down, clean everything, make a graphite plate to set the side link holders more to the outside of the chassis and redrill 2 holes for the steering rack to be closer to the front bulkhead. In my opinion, it's actually a good project, it just needs to be engineerd a bit further...

Yup-That's exactly waht I'm going to do.
I'll drop in a JRX2 tranny that I just built and know is bulletproof,make sure the 5-Link isn't binding and works well,otherwise I have lots of H-Arm setups I can bolt in.
The steering is way wonky lookin',but shouldn't be too hard to correct.
I might actually have enough left over JRX parts to rebuild it as a beater...Hmmmm.
Gotta see what it drives like,eh?

Food for thought:
I remember walking into Hobby City,here in Auckland,New Zealand,in 1989 to get a new A-Arm for my Turbo Ultima.
The JRX2 kits had just arrived and had a sticker price of NZ$420!
Back then,one NZ dollar bought around 45 US cents!
So,I can see why the necessity arose to replace a broken JRX2 chassis with whatever they could make work.
Came from a small town,too.
Under 500 people and with no internet back then,people here used whatever they could get away with.
Now you all know why I never owned an RC10 back in the day-The alloy tub kits retailed for NZ$390,in '87-'88!

Ya that was a conversion sold back in the day. Not sure what the company was but it was sort of a cool idea... best of both worlds for back then

Back in 88/89? My Brother and I had to drill an aftermarket RC10 graphite chassis to accept the stealth trans back when it FIRST came out as a hop-up. Then we we drilled a hole behind the front shock tower to set up a single vertical bolt/shaft to hold a bracket that would have a mount on either side for a truck body... LONG before the 10T came out.
