I got to thinking too, and back on topic. I was thinking on getting a brushless system with 6.5T motor and started comparing a brushed system, such as a Novak Rooster 12T esc with a Reedy Ti World Edition Modified 12T motor, which I think would do just as well....and a hell of a lot cheaper

Really though, why should I go brushless, is there really that much advantage for twice the money

I'd wait. Like I said, it will just keep getting cheaper. More and more will show up on ebay too. If you find a nice system at the right time you can pick it up cheap. I'd get a nice esc with a 12turn motor limit and look for a nice mod on the cheap. If you just bash there is no reason to rush into brushless or Lipo. I only did because all my stuff was very outdated and I thought I needed to. looking back, I could have saved a bundle. I don't regret it, but it's not necessary.

that's where I'm at now...I think I need to, but I don't really. I just want to to say I have it...I'm probably not going to race, and if I did, it's not like I would expect to be great my first time out

for something I can bash that is also fast, I cant see any harm in a 12T brushed system. I could save the brushless for my modernized rc10, which might be finished by this time next year.

I loved brushed motors. Brushless just doesn't have the character of nice modified wind.

They dont have the same character, you're right.

Brushless has tons of torque, ungodly speed and no maintanence. No comparison!

I do race, and occasionally bash (the Slash). I went brushless when it first came out and havent looked back since (other than the Slash). Next to Lipo batteries, this was the best move I have ever done.

It is hard to beat these prices.. I just picked up 5 motors..

cant argue those prices.

I'm waiting for the Novak 13.5T Combo to come out for around 140$ish, then taking the Losi 4800Kv brushless and 11.1v batteries and drop it in a Slash...

As I wait for prices of brushless to come down, I'm seeing Castle's Sidewinder more and more. I would hate to break tradition of using Novak in my RC10s, but I think it's the best bang for you buck.

Either way, I saved room for either Novak or Sidewinder decal on my newly painted body I got for my 5o dollar B4 RTR rolling chassis

I'm not good at painting so I keep my cars clean and simple

I said I would let people know what ended up in this B4 basher.

I really wanted it to be my first buggy with a bushless setup, until I started focusing on a new project (custom RC10)

I ended up putting a Novak hammer pro into it, which I got from my RC10 graphite. I took the Novak 410 from my pan RC10 and installed it into my graphite. The RC10 goldpan ended up with it's original mechanical speed control. Now, at least the vintage cars have period speed controls AND I didn't have to spend a bunch of $$$. For the motor, I found a Reedy Kr Modified 12t that I think will do just fine for bashing it around.

I not going to cop out with the brushless when it comes to the custom RC10. I already spent more than enough on it already, and don't even have any electronics for it yet...custom is getting expensive, but it will be pretty

looks like i should have done a little bit of research on this Reedy Kr 12t motor...looks like it's suited for on-road setup. Good motor, but maybe it's not great for off road

There might be some purists that would say so, but with the right gearing any 12t should be fine. If you already have it I wouldn't sweat it.

yeah, i figured as much, i wonder which pinion gear i will end up using... guess i will have to play around with it. I may replace the spur gear too, it looks to be a bit chewed up. I guess i have options still

looks like the manual states that i will need a 21 tooth pinion gear with the stock 81tooth spur, which will give me a final drive ratio of 10.03:1
i can always get another brushed motor for $20 if i'm not happy
