Very nice find!!! This kind of story is like those you hear of people finding an old Camaro SS in a barn on some farm somewhere that spent most of its life under a tarp because the kid who owned it went off to war and never came back....

I was refering to the stamped ref. number on the side of the box. While mine is a 6010 bushing kit (it is now fully ball-raced), yours is a 6016 kit (same as mine but fully ball-raced from the kit). Later boxes had a printed sheet that is glued on the box, but the layout is a bit different on yours even if it is still writed with a "rubber stamp".
As for the rear "Goodyear" tires, this is still a mistery to me: your car is definitely an earlier version than the one I own as mine didn't came with the rear large shock cups nor the fiberglass battery straps. It looks like the Goodyear tires were introduced for a very short period, most probably between the very early and the later Edinger. It's hard to guess/deduce as your car and mine are the only ones I've ever seen as "new built" and 100% accurate/unaltered.

This is a link to my Edinger. You may be able to compare them and any differences.

Same as mine (plus those sweet signatures, lucky bastard), I just had a look at your car Rod and I must say I'm totally lost about the tires. Your car is clearly a very early version (same as lowry's one) but yours does features the rear Goodyear tires and it looks like the front ones also show the GY logo?????? Could you please take a close-up shot of them? Sorry, I forgot you also have one

.......we should try and figure out this tire thing guys...
~i know that mine was bought in the late summer of 84
~ASSO_MAN, when was yours bought??
~slot car rod your car was in bought on 27 January 1985?
may be it was a random thing.... getting tiers in the kit that had those inscriptions??????
this would be a great question for gene hustings, right??

I also guess that these tires were randomly used in the kits according to availability... Tires in the early kits were also most probably made by another company as Associated only produced their own tires (with the AE logo) when they moved to the Cadillac address. Finally, it was rumoured several times here and on other forums that the Goodyear logo couldn't be used anymore becuase of intelectual property related issues... It would certainly be a good question to ask to Gene!!!
I really don't know when my kit was bought as I scored it a few months ago on evilpay... I could still contact the previous owner though...

I will get more pics later. My front tires are Good Year. I remember talking with all the ASC boys and I am sure they said Good Year tires were first, but I could be wrong. I wish I had paid closer attention!

the goodyears had to be first since they're on the car in the instructions. then the ones with no goodyear. and finally the ones that are on my car.
