The AE rear bulkhead doesn't appear to fix anything, the chassis flex is still insane. I have a brace set coming soon for the new AE car, specific to it. With it you can remove the silly rear brackets it comes with.

Didn't get a chance to reach out today, got thinking he probably wouldn't want to say if it's not public yet, and I don't want to be the guy hounding him

I will say I've had enough people chime in that they still want a Ten4 that I'm running some more parts. I'm making the aluminum pulleys for the AE kit already so I changed our top shaft to match, that way we can use our 17-4 idler and shaft as an upgrade for them as well. Make them more compatible since they are already pretty close

I have a AE RC104WD that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I had an idea in my head for a Ten4.X conversion months before it was discontinued, and I should have acted on it, but I didn't ........... and with it gone, I thought the RC10-4WD was my only option, which is the only reason I ordered one (it certainly wasn't my love for TTAE).

My TTAE RC104WD will sit in its box until it is confirmed that I cannot get a FTW or MIP conversion kit! I will open this thing only if no other option is available!

Think of it as "pre-crashed". No need to worry about stretching the plastic holes, already done for you.

So the plastics might need some brass sleeves to tighten up the clearances.

Imagine if people had to build a real RC10 today, there would be an uproar with all of the hand fitting required.

Yeah it's crazy how far the opposite direction they went though

It is an ongoing theme on the RC10T FB page with people complaining about all that has to be done to build an AE kit to make it right vs. those that will argue that kits have always taken "modifying" to make right. It is a back and forth debate with the logical conclusion being somewhere in middle.

It is sad / entertaining / a PITA to see so many people complain about such little things and go on long rants about this and that and how it is all junk. And then they get a reply like. "just stick a washer between A and B," and the op is all super excited because the idea of adding a washer was beyond them and fixed the super simple "problem."

I am not excusing the well documented lack of quality that TTAE is putting out there these days (and shown above a few posts up), but it also doesn't help that so many of the modern day builders really have no business building anything.

Things have shifted. Bitd you built a Tamiya, then the AE felt like quality. Nowadays you build an Xray or Yokomo and then the rc10 and it's disappointing how bad the fit and finish is. You have to remember they have retooled all the molds at this point, they are working with modern stuff and can't hit the quality like everyone else including their race buggies.

I will also add, the fit and finish of the Kyosho rere and the schumacher rere are far superior. AE is just not concerned. The same reason they haven't fixed their 10 year old short axle issue.

It's weird. The RERE Cougar 2 Works I just built has way better fitment than their 2 Modern kits I have, the L1R and the Storm ST. My B6.4 wasn't terrible but I did shim it to be better. The RC10 classic and DS I have were pretty floppy. The FanRC FR01 (RC10 Graphite clone) has a bit better fitment than the AE reres, other than the steering issue that I solved with longer screws and a spacer and the bad run of trans gears. Nothing is as bad as the Losi Minis though. There's more forward and back play on those little arms than the most beat 1/10 scales, took a lot of shimming and CAing the holes smaller to get fitment correct. I guess this is what happens when you outsource production and don't pay the extra for better QA.

Y'all are making me feeling better about building my Worlds Car Geometry gold pan from Fan RC/Custom Works/Vintage RC10/etc parts rather than an AE kit.

Yeah, I was/am on the fence still with that TTAE kit. I just can't justify their new stuff. Although, I've not built my Green Edition kit, but I'm a little less than syked that it's not going to be up to AE par. I'd rather invest my money in quality parts from Jeff, MIP and vintage FLEBAY parts.
