Anyone had an issue with their rear bumper being a little fragile yet? Some how some time during my initial assemble I must have snagged and cracked the rear bumper at the top screw. I consider myself a very gentle handler and I'm not sure how it happened. Just maybe thinking a little thicker bumper might be a better choice?

Make sure you shim the space gap between the motor plate and the bumper.. If you dont, you add stress to the part.
Mine have to be shimmed (depending on the car) from 2mm (on my nix91) to 4mm on a classic worlds car..

With as thin and flexible as the part is, I really didn't think shimming would be necessary here. I think it occurred from an accidental bending after it was bolted on. More or less I was curious if this is a fluke or how well they would hold up on a runner. If I accidentally did it I can't imagine what a couple spills would do.
I'm not trying to knock the part as it was totally my fault its broken. Just trying to offer an opinion for a possible thicker piece.

I have been digging dirt hard with mine and it's still ok. No washers between SLS part and motor mount plate just one washer under both screws.
It's no big deal to model a thicker bumper part if there is a need for it.

The washers under the screws are a good idea and probably enough to prevent cracking if yours is holding fine. Mine was probably just a fluke happening.

First Id like to thank Niki and all that made this replica possible. It's so cool to see what passion, smarts and technology can make happen. Mine is in the early stages of being built, and due to the rarity of some of the parts, I will have to make some compromises when all is said and done. But I am having allot of fun and its a great way to end 2014!!!

Most of my questions have already been answered by all of the great posts, but I do have one question. When will the 89 Masami kit be available???

An update for current/future builders.

I just received an email from Barbara at Lunsford. The titanium retro links/RCPS, and titanium hingepins are now listed on the website for simple direct purchase.

She did state they don't have the ball studs and she's not sure if they will be doing them.

here's another option for turnbuckles. these would be an excellent choice for the people racing their buggies because of the finer thread pitch. they look good too...

Has anyone tried copper springs sold by AE? Not sure if length/diameter is close to what is needed.

Rear - 25065 Extra Firm Copper
Front - 8449 Factory Team

Thanks Limestang

the first set could look the part I would guess, they are for the monster GT so should be close to the right size.

the second set are for the micro shock, so the diameter would be wrong.

Are the shock cap nylon washer's used on Masami's shock spring cup? There appears to be an extra ridge - perhaps to hold a slightly larger diameter spring?

Thanks Limestang

Those come in the yokomo shock spacer kit and also in the RPM kit (although in black) .

Limestang I thought about the same thing with the associated springs. So I bought a set of the copper truck springs. Wow they are stiff! Here's the difference between stock spring and truck spring..... close but not quite :(
