Gary Katzer from Horizon Hobbies did a Tamiya Frog re-release test drive at our track at Eli Field. check it out to see the track as it was this year.

I am looking at June 11, 2011 for our next vintage day get-together. Hope it is as much fun as last year. A day of running vintage RC vehicles, just kicking back and having fun. I think this is a early enough notice for people to adjust their schedules to make this one. thanks Rick

Actually there is a Comfort Inn at the track. You drive past it going into the facility. I will get the info and post it here. Hope to see you at the track. Rick

It's the Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn, 1-877-676-1508 is their booking number. The hotel is very nice with a family restaurant and Mobil gas station next door. I will contact them when it gets a little closer to the date to see if we can get a room discount. Thanks, Rick

Yes, there are several hotels in Champaign. Hilton Garden is very nice, not sure on pricing. It is on the south side of Champaign, all little out of the way for Momticello. There is Hawthorne Suites next the the Hilton. There is the Baymont Inn and Suites on the north side of Champaign. Here are their numbers Baymont 217-356-8900, Hawthorne 217-398-3400, Hilton 217-352-9970, I hope this helps as far as info for lodging. hey nice ! im new to the forums, havnt posted in the ''who are you'' thread yet but have posted a few times. i am located in illinois also, roughly 2 hours south of chicago. i would love to participate in this ! i have always been into RC ever since my folks got me an old nikko red car of some sort. was the coolest thing my little head could have imagined ! from then i had a bunch of junky toy rc cars, until at an auction i found my first ''real'' rc car around the age of 18. it was a good old grasshopper trashed to death. since then ive been collecting vintage rides, mainly rc10's. when i was in school down in carbondale illinois there was an indoor rc track in the mall in marion. i'd go all the time to practice on the track, but they held no vintage races. since i moved back home, i havnt found a track. i know there are a few within driving distance, but have never been. if you guys know of anything around central illinois please let me know and ill keep my eyes here and try to make this get-together ! very excited

sounds great, we are located between Champaign and Decatur on interstate 72 in Monticello. we run at the track all summer, usually on sunday afternoons. We don't run a weekly race program but you are more then welcome to come to the track and run for fun. The get together is still a go for June.
