Yokomo produced this pink ribbed wheels for the 1993 Ifmar Worlds.
But never sold them.
The only one of this ribbed wheels ever sold was the white and the black.

JD used his own dukemo in basildon i think hi was 6 or something like that with it.

It took me a little while, but I found some new info about the WCS.
The car was sold in Japan in early August 1993, for 53,000 Yen. It came without shocks and no wheels.
180 or 200 were sold (2 different figures from 2 different sources...).
Derbydan posted an image of an original WCS out of box on page 1. This is exactly how it was sold.
Concerning the Basildon cars, the source says 50 cars were brought for the race and handed to 48 racers.

53000 equates to $639.00 that's a lot of money back in 93, wonder where they all are then.

Quick update on this...

So far the car is pretty much in this state of disassembly;



I need to get the magnesium parts bead blasted & generally go over all the other parts & give them a good clean (once dissmantled further) The main movement is in the parts i've managed to collect...



You may notice that I have a new top deck... this I got made by Fibrelyte who already had the correct profile - but I did have to source & supply the G10 material as this wasn't something Fibrelyte had in stock... big thanks to CATS on here for pointing me in the right direction with regards to a supplier.

I'm still on the hunt for the ellusive pink ribbed rear wheels to match the fronts I already have.... but I have a full set of the white wheels (courtesy of Kenooze) which I might try and dye pink.. when I'm feeling brave enough lol!

I am also on the lookout for equally rare (it seems) white rear bulkhead cap & the small ball joints that are used to make the roll bar links on the rear.

So far i've collected parts from all over the globe... Hong Kong, Germany, France, Australia, The U.S & back here in the UK... and it seems i've made friends along the way

I know where that rear wing came from, and I also know that it is just as twisted as mine is, I was rather upset for what it cost.

Dan what on earth are those white plastic shells? Did yo take a mold of something?

The shell I got from CobraKen (Ken Reith) the white is the protection film - it still is a clear shell. The shell is good, & would be great for a runner, but the edges & faces are not quite as crisp or flat as thr original shell. I may buy one of Mr Lexan's excellent reproductions instead but of cause that would be a Pavidis 'scooped' versions rather than the proper non-scooped early mould aswell

Yes - you offered me the lightweight one... but i'm afraid my pockets are just too shallow

Small update, just got my magnesium parts back from being bead blasted, i'm rather pleased with them, huge thanks to Tony at Rudebits (manufacturers of brass parts for various off road cars) http://www.rudebits.co.uk/ for cleaning them for me



I'm getting rather excited now about this project as its all starting to come together!

looks nice! I would look into trying to find something to help preserve the finish. automotive wax, or maybe a flat clear spray paint? it will oxidize quickly otherwise. I've got some yoke stuff I need to bead blast, I was even thinking of melting some candle wax and dipping it into it, and then breaking off the thick stuff.

I've used low gloss lacquer on cleaned Yoke magnesium bits and it's done a great job of protecting that "as new" look.
