Yep, exactly what I was thinking.
Ditto!

I had to work late, so I missed the first part, but when I DID tune in, and saw the "semi challenge", I said to myself, I saw this in the UK.

Realistically speaking, What HAVEN'T the Brits done on that show? Making cars into boats, making Limos out of non traditional cars, Making 1:1 RC cars and racing, converting cars into campers ETC.

I love TopGear UK, and, having met an talked to Tanner on a couple of occasions, other than his bias toward RWD cars, (which isn't always a bad thing) but I think they are trying a tad too hard.

I'll still watch. Car wrecks are still fun to slow down for a see what happened.

I love Topgear, the original one. Never have seen Topgear AU, has to be at least as bad as the Topgear US.
This is the USA! There are hundreds of things to base shows off if other than the British writing (which I love). No Smokey and the Bandit homage? No dukes of hazard? Have they been to rt66 yet? Any evil kenevil-esque skits? Drag racing was started here! Where is the shows guts?

I didn't see the show, but I was thinking the same thing when I saw the previews for the big rig challenge. I hear next week they'll be driving through the south trying to piss off the rednecks.

The Brits had the Aussie presenters on and did challenges against them. The Aussies at least were not morons, the US guys are horrible! Tanner isn't so bad, but Adam? Seriously? How does an unfunny, whining New Yorker get on a show like Top Gear? Rutledge at least seems to have a knowledge of cars, but again, seriously, that's the best they could do?

It could have been worse, they could have stuck with Adam Corolla who was originally slated for the cast.

Top gear and some other shows such as top shot started off great. But now they are just to cartoonish for me. I like the walking dead myself and can't wait till shane gets bit .

Seems fitting oddly enough that they are aired in the US on the History Channel. 10-1 odds says they are history after this year, and everything they have done was done 5-8 years ago ion BBC-

I much prefer the UK Top Gear. The USA Top Gear could be much better. I'm not a fan of Adam...he's not a bad person, but yeah, I think it's that Northeast vibe. Doesn't work with the So Cal lifestyle. :)
