Too bad, didn't look like something I could pick up at the local hardware store. You still gave me a cool idea to make better use of shelf-space. Now just to figure out how to fabricate it...

Not sure what the shipping cost would be (you have to reg to calculate it) but the stands are pretty cheap.

I'm unable to post a pic ATM, but I buy small wooden crate's at the dollar store, than wrap them with black felt. Looks good, and will not scuff the chassis

We used that word way back around 2003 in computer modding (which I was really into back in the day). Ghetto mods were done on-the-cheap with little thought given to the quality of the mods or the end-result. I'm sure the term also applies to some of the bad RC car hack-jobs we've seen on Craigslist and eBay.
It's used for anything that would've been classified as "Mickey Moused".

"Damn that setup is ghetto"

"That radio install is ghetto"

You get the point.

In MA if you really want to emphasize the amount of ghetto, you can add wicked or mad.

To make my post legit, I'm digging the Ziploc containers. Strong work on that one.

I think the best stand is one which is invisible from the viewing angle. I plan on using two small blocks of clear perspex. Each will be located at opposite ends of the chassis, hidden behind the wheels. From the viewing angle it will be impossible to tell there is anything supporting it.

Everybody is so fancy.. I just use spare RC tires and wheels, truck tires work the best. :)

I don't think cool whip tubs and butter tubs are fancy

I only use Cool Whip & margarine tubs for cleaning parts...great idea for recycling, they work great for soaking stuff in WD-40 or Easy-Off or Dawn dish-soap. I have my cars displayed in a glass-doored armoire in the dining room, along with the fancy dishes...yeah, it's a bit odd but looks great. If I used margarine tubs for stands, no female would approve. :P

Or do what I suggested on page one. Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Buy some thick plexi and a torch. Heat and bend!

This is what I use for my stands. Dollar store crates, some black felt cut to fit around the box, stapled on the sides and Viola!

Thanks gomachv, yeh, I keep them up, tire's are in sealed bag's though, the best part about black is it kind of disappears with shadow, but you can get any colour, they have a gold felt as well, that looks very close the original pan's
