the side support "triangle", bottom screw hole got ripped out and it took a little material with it...the rim, it got spun and is now useless....I also cracked the elusive rear lower shock mount for a 5 link.

don't ya just hate the 4-40 nut at the top of the gear cover? I use an RC10 original steering linkage clamp instead...

and one of my favorite finds so far...this little 380 motor w/540 adaptor plate. i need a better speedo for it, but that will come in time...

Fortunately those suspension uprights are easy to find. It's the lower shock mount that will be tough.

I have a few gallon sized zip locks full of parts , in that are about a dozen new lower shock mounts. New ones are on the car already. I am cleaning up a pair of Robinson Racing fiberglass side mounts while I am at it. They dont do me any good sitting in the spare parts area. In checking the upright, in a pinch it could be turned around and reused, it only cracked that small spot on the side. From the sound of the hit, you would have thought I busted the chassis in half.

I love this car... its what having a vintage runner is all about, combining modern convenience of brushless motors & LiPo batteries but with the charm of the older chassis, with some 'fettling' added to keep it going & maintaining reliability.

I've got a little 380 BL motor to go in my XXT, its part of a combo kit with an ESC but was one of the first BL systems sold for car use (its about 12 years old) From what I can remember it was pretty rapid to say the least but the speedo wasn't as refined as they are now (basically adapted from a plane ESC)

Its funny with these old Losi's - they really don't seem to be as desirable as their Associated counterpart & as such it seems possible to amass quite a collection of cars & parts without breaking the bank - especially if you are into running these cars where NIP/pristine bits are not essential.

so as I am cleaning up, the side of me that cant leave well enough alone starts putting the car back together..

first plan of action, clean up the loose rear suspension

need - KS128 brass tube & some cajone's with a drill bit to open the holes in the suspension parts oh so slightly:



Nice snug press fit into all the rear joints that use a hinge pin

Mr Dremel tool and I did a little modification to the chassis for that one.

The best part about this car is that you aren't afraid to drive it and potentially hurt it. Cars aren't meant to be shelf queens. My friend Chad commented that my current rebuild of my childhood RC10 is going to look like a shelf queen. My response was only until I get it out on the track!

Someone say new speedo? The difference is VERY noticeable

Best part? Speedo is super inexpensive and can run sensored motors (if I ever pull this one out).

That is just crazy.... Is it normal to run a 380 size motor in a 540 car? I have never seen it done, but it looks like a beast

not normal at all...i found the system in the bottom of a toolbox during a CraigsList purchase. tested it, it worked, so I tried it in a car and fell in love with it.

Ha ha - thats mad, looks like it wheelies at will! Look at how scratched up your motor guard is as a result!!

Been running my XXT with a 380BL motor not sure what 'KV' it is but it goes really well, though not quite as mental as JK's Jrx2!

What would be the advantage of having a 380 sized motor in these 1/10 buggys and trucks?
