Yes sir you would be correct. When I got it I actually bought two in a package deal. One was only used a couple times and they broke an outdrive.

I need too go find a compression fiting too put on these as I read you did that too yours to solve the breaking issue. I also had installed small limiters too the shocks so the axles wouldn't bottom out and I trimmed the chassis slightly too allow more droop in the rear. A few people looked the buggy over and were impressed with it and the designs put into it almost 10 years ago.

I was curious how it would do since it doesn't have built in chassis kickup, but I was surprised on how easy it was too drive. It's a big learning curve though coming from stock truck and stock short course.

Best thing you can do for yourself (and I wish I would heed my own advice), do not over power it for your skill level. To finish first, first you must finish.

That's why I stuck my 10.5T Trinity in it. I wanted enough power too make every jump, but not be so fast I couldn't control it. Most guys were running 4.5t-8.5t and then turn the power down to around 80%.

It was very comfortable with that power. Didn't get hot at all and had more than enough power for the track. The biggest challenge for me was turning. I am so use too 2wd and finessing the turns where as this thing wants power at all times it seemed like. It turned harder if I was giving it a little throttle. I turned my throttle trim up just a hair so that if I let off the throttle it will coast for a little while instead of stopping right away. Seemed too work pretty well like that. The right tires would help as well since it wouldn't push quite as bad.

I used to race an sb. My only real complaint about it was that there was no room for a larger spur gear. It was hard to gear low enough for low wind motors, because it used a touring size spur, so gearing was more ideal for small touring size tires. Other than that, it handled as well as a zx5, and was really bling right out of the box.

I ran the stock 70T spur with a 23t pinion on my Trinity 10.5t brushless motor. It was a really good setup. Plenty of speed and torque. It definitely is one of the better looking buggies I think. I like the purple anodizing compared too the blue on AE.

With the advent of brushless motors and the gearing changes with them, the SB is right at home. I remember trying to gear an 11X2 motor and having a helluva time. The 19X2 was great and felt good in the car.

I think this car would be a great platform for a boosted 17.5 or 13.5 set up.

I would like too get a new esc and try a boosted 13.5. My 10.5 was not boosted and was about perfect for the track we ran on. More than enough power too clear every jump without being hard too drive.

The best part was I true one pinion and my temp was only 88* after a 6 minute run. I have room too play with it from there.

I just need too figure out some diff rings that I can use from another vehicle.

VW...what goes around comes around. I am expecting a box with an SB first edition Pro car, and SB V2 Sport and SB V2 Pro car. Well most of all the 3 anyways.

Made my own bumper/skid/chassis 'saver'...the plastic kick up part of these chassis cracked easily.

Looks great. Glad to see these cars still being raced.

I raced my academy last year and i can say I did NOT experience Andy of the issues I've heard about. The car was incredibly fast with a 13.5t. It would easily pull the front end up on little rollers (couldn't have the slipper any looser or it would slip non stop). I only experienced one parts failure and that was a left front arm after I clipped the pipe and barrel rolled the entire back straight. It was impressive how strong the buggy was. I constantly received comments on how cool the buggy looked and how well it handled. The biggest setback with the buggy was I struggled to adjust my driving style to a 4wd. I struggled in the corners a lot due to letting off the throttle too much and lthen having the front end unload and push out. I started adjusting in the end and it was a bullet out of the corners.

I sold the buggy after I stopped racing.


Jk that body on the sbv2 looks crazy. Is it stock? It curves in so much in the middle. I like it.

Team Ashihara or something. I cannot find another, I love it.

Bill of clinehobbies became the team azarashi distributor some years ago. Maybe he can help getting you one of those bodies still.
Rough timeframe for their release would be late 2007.
