Cool find, congrats My only suggestion at this point would be to ditch all the brass bushings in exchange for bearings while your rebuilding (especially in the transmission) unless you're really NOT EVER going to run it

i am jelly of that horde of parts , was in much the same boat as you, though i was playin with a mod hpi savage with a 700 ho conversion. looks good btw, and makes me want to get to work on mine again, though i am waiting on trans at the moment.....

I have been working hard at getting this thing back together. My goal is to get the gold chassis back to stock. I cleaned everything scrubbing with a tooth brush and simple green, after that I soaked the white parts in peroxide. I started putting it back together today.



So far I have only ran into a couple minor problems. With putting the transmission back together after I took it apart to clean and grease everything I cannot find the proper screws to close the transmission casing, 3 of them.



And I cannot find a tiny nut that goes on the other side.



Other than that I am moving along. In the future I will need the cover that goes over the large outer gear and a body.

The bottom screw is shorter than the others. I believe the nut is still in the case. I don't think I have ever had one fall out before and I use to tear my tranny apart all the time to clean it up.

Thanks trek. The 3 screws that I thought went into the casing are to long and the shorter screw needs the nut. From what I can tell the nut is not in the casing, I will look again when I get out to the shop.

My 1985/86 era RC10 had the same issue. I remember when I built it (brand new) I could never find that little nut. Looked everywhere and finally had to grind down a nut to fit into there.

Sometimes you feel like a nut....sometimes you don't.

Well I have been spending a bunch of time on the old RC10 and I think I have most of it together. I still need the gear cover (fighting on eBay for one now) and a body. Other than that what do you guys see that I need to change or that I should? My intent is to display this car and I will not run it although I want it to work and it does other than the steering. For some reason today I could not get the steering linkage and servo to work right so I left it alone for now. When people ask me, what year should I tell them this is from? It is the A stamp chassis. Let me know what you think.

I would have to say that this is from the 1984-86 generation.

Got the gear cover in today, got it from eBay. Didn't want to spend that much but that's what they seem to have been going for. The seller said it was vintage, it looks like it and kind of like paper thin....I think it might be.

it's not the "correct" gear cover for the car, but it gets the job done.

oh, and your rear arm mounts are on the wrong side.

Very nice and clean resto but scr8p is right, that gear cover came on later stealth tranny rc10's! For such a sweet car, I would keep my eye open for an original!

Dang it, I thought tha is what I had. Anyone have a picture of the one I need? Also, my rear arms are on wrong? Can you explain little further? Thanks for the information!!
