Just a suggestion, use a cheap GPS or one of those Venom speedos before you wreck your nice phone I've used my Garmin quite a few times in various cars, works great!

Those are my old phones. I have three working iPhones right now. I do have one of those small garmins but I lost the charger years ago. I've been on the fence about buying one of those bushnell radar guns used in sports. It's probably much cheaper to just buy a new charger for the garmin.

I don't think there will be a need for 6s. It would probably just be in useable power anyway

There does come a point where that is the case. I found with my beast GT that all the torque that OFNA .32 made just meant spinning out or flipping over pretty much all the time with a 2WD 1/10 truck.

Awesome stuff and all trial and error for sure. Just curious if you dialed down the punch on the ESC? That might help with shredding your drive train and save on tires too on your launch.

Ya, good idea. Those tires just look abused! Rolling in to the speed and cranking it at the end is key. Awesome pics.

I haven't messed with the punch setting yet. I may down the road. I was just in a tiny parking lot trying to get on the throttle way sooner than the tires would allow. I scoped out where I plan on making my full passes. Just as perfect as a place as I remembered. Just hoping the traffic is as little as I remembered.

Ordered another pinion and I have a couple spurs. Will try a couple different gearing options to see what that changes.

Does that system have dynamic timing? If so you can really taylor the throttle profile to get the most out of it. The other problem with foams and parking lots is lack of traction, at least the FWD will help with that, it will pull the car straight instead of spin out.

The testing is probably the most fun part, although when you spend so much time and money building something you become hesitant to run it for fear of crashing it. I built a custom 2HP 2WD top speed short course truck that on paper would get close to 100mph, I havn't run yet for fear of writing it off.

I love these types of projects and can't wait to hear updates.

In the manual it does have a setting for the timing. I didn't read much into that though.

This car was definitely built to run. It's already covered in dust. And melted the wheel wells cause I forgot to support the hood, the crap tires expanding probably helped too. The second parking lot was way too rough for this car. But on a descent road I shouldn't be doing any more real damage. Unless it gets out of control and hits a guard rail.

If you want some sticky rubber tires, the custom works are pretty good. They make slicks and treaded versions...

I think those will expand to much at the speeds he is looking for.

Foams is the way to go or he could do the electrical tape wrapped on the inside of the tire. That does help prevent the tires from turning into saucers.

When I was seriously into it I was going to make a jig to spin the tires up to different RPM's to see how they performed. If the tire exploded at 80mph you know the car wouldnt survive.

Foams are definately the cheapest option. Is the rubbing from tire expansion or the body being pressed down at speed?

I think the majority of the rubbing was from the body being pressed down. I read DHoods post about the extra post, I just forgot by time I got done re wiring everything. The front is much more solid now. I originally put the post as close to the spur as I could so the hood didn't press into it. Since they were so far forward the body was actually very flimsy in the lower windshield area.

I purchased a radar gun today off ebay. Should be here before the weekend to get some accurate numbers. If I hit 100 this weekend ill be happy. I think I still have plenty of power on tap to gear up too.

Have you thought about using the traxxas tires from their 100 mph speed car?

The car overall is a much bigger car. I haven't seen the tires in person in a while but I think they are easy too big
