Well, the first outing went ok. For some reason the pipe kept wanting to rotate upwards and the brake linkage collar fell off after the third tank ending my day. Other then that it ran ok. I didn't particularly like how little smoke came from the fuel but fuel selection here is quite limited. I always used to run O'Donnell 20% and never had any problems,

I remember now why we ditched the stock clutch in favor of the MIP. The dragging shoes create an irregular idle. A few little tweaks and it's ready for another outing.

Ready to run again. I replaced the stock clutch shoes with a MIP unit from another GT. You could hear the stock clutch drag down the engine RPM. Trimming the stock shoes would help but blah, the 4-n-1 is superior in every way. I also fixed up the throttle linkage a bit.

Oh yeah, I also put in an offer for a blue head

It looked really cool running around the parking lot with the box art style body, can't wait to get it all dialed in.

Were you running the spring on the stock clutch? I seemed to have great luck in my GT running days on the stock clutch.

They haven't done the little clutch spring for a looong time. The last batch of clutch shoes don't even have the little holes for a spring. I don't know why they went away from the spring as it looked like a good tunable set up.

Woo Hoo - Today was a good day.

I'm generally not a fan of Duratrax but since the engine head is made by O'Donnell I'm good with it. I'm much happier with the blue head, and since I found a NIP tank I put my old clear lid tank back in. Now with everything the way I like it I can't wait to run it, batteries and igniter are charging as we speak.

With a bit of luck it will run again tomorrow..... :D

I just might have to spring for a set of proper GT decals now.
