Those are .015" width x .060" deep grooves in the spacer. I use an A.R. Warner brand grooving and cut off tool. It has high speed steel inserts in three widths, .015", .031" and .062". Each insert has two cutting edges so when one end gets dull, flip it around! The set comes with one insert holder, all three inserts sizes, two spare insert screws and a T-9 wrench, all in a foam padded plastic case. The set goes for about $105.00 plus shipping. For ease of use I have three sets on quick change tool holders. I cut grooves in Delrin, Brass, Aluminum, Steel, and yes, even Titanium.

The Stealth trans. spacers and top shaft cap project is done. It's a precision task to make 4 spacers the same dimensions. What I do is part off the ends .002" oversize and lap then to spec. It's seems, for me anyway, the best way to do it.

definitely harder than it looks.......I shoot for .001" error for general stuff. sometimes it ends up more than that, but for most things, it's not that critical, more like .005". bearing fits are always super frustrating with my old and used lathe and setup. I have to resort to file fit many times.

Super low tolerances are a hard thing to get for me with my lathe. It's a vintage Taig Micro Lathe II, all manual. I do use a dial indicator for groove indexing.

Want to use button head instead of socket head screws on the Stealth transmission case? I made some parts for that this morning. Using 1061-T6 aluminum rod, drilled for 4-40 screw clearance. Add 1/8" to the length of your screws and your locked on.

"Turned" out another Stealth #6565 transmission case upgrade yesterday. These are in a semi-polished finish right now.

It's been awhile since I put anything in here so I got busy for a couple of mornings...
Associated Stealth (#6565 case) machined aluminum spacers, top shaft cap, and a pair of RC10 bulkhead wing tube caps. The top shaft cap has the same machined "step" as the wing tube caps, just can't see it good from my crappy picture.
I don't really have any plans to build another Stealth trans right now (not enough parts on hand) but the Mojo was rising.

I pulled out my last new 6565 and let it soak up some RIT Dymore Graphite dye this morning. It gives you a better looks at the aluminum parts now.

You should consider making some form tools so you can easily replicate them
Here’s a one that you might recognize. The other part is from the previous company. The two lower tools were for motor plate spacers. These were wire edm cut

Those are slick tooling! I hardly ever repeat the design of spacers
