I purchased a pair of fiberglass battery straps from Factory Works. I also own an early Edinger RC10. They look identical other than the edingers looks a little used. When I get a chance, I'll try to dig them out and take pictures of both for comparison. As for wheels, you could get away with using wheels from a Cadillac car. Other then tires, they're identical down to the color of the plastic so you cant tell an early Edinger vs Cadillac. For piece of mind, I 'd probably stick with the beat up originals knowing it came with the car. Let me know if you need any pics of my early Edinger for reference or comparison.

Currently been "whitening" the yellow parts back to a lighter yellow in stages as some have yellowed more that others. One thing that is bothering me is some parts have yellowed unevenly, so the staining is still visable, but as this car is going to be as close as possible to a survivor, I think it'll be ok once re assembled.

The Spur gear on my car is also incorrect as it is a black one that may even be 48 pitch from memory (At work now, and dont have a photo of it) I'll try and get a pic up later so as someone may be able to advise if it's AE or aftermarket and/or period correct.

Some pics of the spur gear

And more evidence of this being an early car? Drive gear pivot is “e” clipped rather than threaded.

Finished my whitening, there’s still some discolouration, particularly on the gear case halves

Matched against my new built classic, I’m pretty happy with the result

Yup early spine plate. That's really cool. I wouldn't be too disheartened with the discolorations. It was like that from the molds, and every car that has seen sunlight will have it. The plastics we're always more of a bone color.

Thanks Joe, any thoughts/info on the Spur Gear?

Looking around the inter webs and I found this pic

Looks a lot like the one from my car, could this be a period correct replacement?

Spur gear changes were pretty much the norm, so that's pretty easy to lose the original. The original had a smaller number of holes and was available for quite a long time since it was the same up until the stealth came out. If you keep you eyes peeled you should be able to find a white one somewhere. As far as originality, that's one area where it's nice to have, but not totally necessary. And yes, black ones were available early also, since the spur was taken from pan car parts.

If you haven't done it, make sure you boil all of the parts from the peroxide bath. If you don't get it out of the plastic, it will eventually eat away any anodizing those parts are touching.

I usually do it a few times. Changing the water each time.

Thanks to a couple legends on here, I’ve got some screws, body pins and a front shock tower enroute to me which I’m extremely grateful for.

In the meantime, I’ve assembled the 6 gear and the links using all of my surviving round bodied ball cups. I’ll have to use the Dubro’s for all of the steering assembly. Here’s a couple pics

Thought I’d have a look at the couple AE Motors I’ve got, and looks like I’ve got “before” and “after” Motors :|
An early 05 closed end bell motor - Edinger address

A Modified motor - Cadillac address

A NIP Stock motor - Cadillac address

My first thoughts were the Edinger motor, but now I’m not so sure, as I don’t think anyone would’ve ended up with one of those in their RC10’s back in the day, the Modified motor seems like a likely upgrade? Thoughts?
