I've done a few RC10's of all forms now... nothing beats spanking-white plastics on a black tub, visually speaking. This is the best looking combo of all!!!
This will be one superb truck
Thanks, it's certainly fun to watch it come together. It's been years since my last build.

sidenote - how people can accept to do this is beyond me however... after all these years, this and wood screws are my two pet peeves...
Tell me about it. Absolutely no attempt to clean them up. They will be trimmed before reassembly. My OCD forces me to do so with xacto knife.
What is not clear from that picture is the state of the shafts. It looks like a beaver chewed on them during assembly.
A good remember about fishing things out of the bay...

Man, this is a really nice build. I can certainly appreciate the time and effort that goes into cleaning and finishing so many individual parts. The end result is well worth it though. I did a similar rebuild to my original RC10T a few years ago. So happy to have it still.
What medium did you blast the outdrives with?
How old is your son? My boy will be 4 in a few months. He loves my RC vehicles, and always wants to help work on them. It can be a fine line between help and ruin at his age, but he is getting better all the time. It's great you get to do this project with him. Great build thread!

We used the aluminum oxide media that came with our Chinese knock-off of the Paasche Air Eraser. The real stuff is the Paasche AEX-6 aluminum oxide – fast cutting compound.

My son is 12 and also loves RC vehicles. He has a bunch of his own RTR cars, but this is his first real build. He has really enjoyed it.
BTW, thanks all for the great feedback. We are waiting for a few more items to show up in the mail before we can finish the truck. Hopefully they start showing up this week.
