Haven't had much time the past 2 weeks to work on the 1/5 scale (busy with real work stuff) but have sneaked in a few hours here and there. Found an 8" driver figure online that was the perfect size so made some racing harness, steering wheel, and other things as well as visor for the helmet and such. Also made a mount for a red led kill switch indicator like real Monster Jam trucks have to add to the scale look. My aluminum heim joints came in so was able to connect the sway bars. Got the big giant 1/5 scale servo installed. Took some work to get it in right and where it clears everything but after some back and forth I finally got it tucked up in there real nicely now.

Still have a number of things to do before test runs and powder coat, but the list is getting shorter for sure.

Finally able to get back onto progress for the 1/5 scale Hesse axle truck after 6 weeks of busy with real work. Starting to print my thicker more scale beadlock rings for the Monster Claws. Rings looked good, but I was not happy with the lack of scale bolts appearance. So I made a template ring and centered a dummy bolt hole between each real bolt. Countersunk the dummy hole and then cut the bolt length by about 60%. Got a much more scale look now to it I think.

The bead lock rings look real good , you should be able to print the nuts as part of the ring at that size though , way less fuss !

Cant do that. They are real beadlocks so half the screws are actually functional stainless button head cap screws that get screwed in to hold the tire on the wheel. So I want the rest of the screws to match the real ones, if I printed the fake ones on the ring then they wouldn't match the real stainless ones.

Yeah it definitely has a different sound to it than I'm use to with my 1/10-1/8 scale trucks. Much more of a growl than they have. I have to go pick up a BEC at the local shop today for it. The 1/4 scale steering servo needs much more juice than the XL2 esc is able to give it. It's glitching and moving slow. Hooked it up to my Mamba-X (higher bec rating) and works fine, so BEC should take care of that. At first I was thinking it was a servo issue and was freaking out because that'd be a very expensive servo to replace

Well got it out for a test run. It is a beast and a half. The only thing I don't like is the fact that I am use to sensored setups in all my other trucks so its a bit "loose" feeling off the line. So I went ahead and ordered a brand new Castle xlx2 & 800kv sensored setup and some Q8s connectors for it yesterday. Should be here in about a week.

In the meantime I got one of the 18 scale trucks out and did a little testing of the durability of the new Ignitor wheels I just put on it.

Just a lil' sneak peak 🙂 been working non stop on final assembly. Going somewhat slow but going well. I'm thinking with a little luck it may be "done" by early next week. Nice to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel after nearly 10 months building this project.
