Frankentruck wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 4:51 pm There are a lot of nice used 10L available (I have at least 3, which is too many) and they are a less expensive model because of their simplicity. If the tires can stay hooked up they are ballisticly fast, but traction is an issue. They are just like attaching wheels onto your battery and motor, and zooooom!!!! Until spinout, that is. Short outdoor tracks that don't get high top speeds can be some wild races with a 10L.
XLR8 wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 7:37 pm I have just one 10L and I've owned it since it was new from bitd - not sure when it was released. I raced it wherever I could; mostly carpet but some pavement (prepped with sugar water).
Exactly the same here. I still have my 10L from 1989. I have two of them. But nowadays w/ cheap 4WD cars I don't think anyone would want to put up with an old pan car unless it was just for the shelf.
Frankentruck wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 4:51 pm The DS came around when I was out of RC. I'm interested in having my first NIB one.
XLR8 wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 7:37 pm I wasn't doing much RC related in 1996 so I completely missed the DS.
Same here, never heard of it until this thread! I left for school in '91 but still played around w/ my cars until '94 or so, about the time Brian Kinwald was on every page of RCCA magazine.

To be honest I think this RC10DS should have came out way before it did back in the day. I may be wrong but I have the feeling only a small percentage of people raced their RC10's back in the day. Most of us just ran them in the street on front of the house, or in the grass or dirt. At some point we all got foam tires and a twister modified to try to set the land speed record and impress the neighbors. Today, with cheap 4WD cars that are so easy to drive it makes less sense.

Saw this pic of the car the Mustang DS was based off of on an unrelated FB post and figured I'd share.

Also, I put in my order at my LHS. We'll see how long that takes, I'm not in a rush.

The RC10DS is out of pre-order. We should start seeing these in shops soon.

I'm going to have to wait a bit, but definitely want one. Will be looking for one at LiquidRC, or Michael's, Nitro Hobbies is good too. ASC8082 is the part number.

I just received the email notice from AE that they are in stock.
I'm gonna wait on this one as well. I still haven't cracked open the '10T so I'm in no rush to get a DS.

That's very cool! Are you planning to build it right away?
I'm curious about the sticker sheet. There are two liveries shown on the box cover so I wonder what they've included.

Really looking forward to hearing exactly what wheelbase settings are available, the DS should be a great custom body platform, with lots of places to drive it. A well lit covered/underground parking lot would be a raceway for these, year round.

I agree. Our local HS parking lot is smooth, clean and well lit. I just need to avoid hitting the lap posts.

Hmmm, I still have that unpainted Greenwood Vette body. That should make a good runner -- keep the Mustang body nice and clean for shelf duty.

Probably won't even crack the stickers. I already have a nitro and electric plus a shelfers electric team version so it's just a kit to keep around. I actually hadn't noticed the silver one on the box, I'm used to seeing a silver Mercedes there and it never clicked. That is, I suppose, more proof that they won't be releasing a Mercedes version. Sad since it's such an easy way to add a sku

Amain has them today:
https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-associated-rc10ds-classic-1-10-2wd-electric-onroad-car-kit-asc8082/p1568504

(8) on ebay:

Waiting for LiquidRC, Michael's, or Nitro Hobbies to get them, nothing yet.

Had a look at the DS manual, does not show an adjustable wheelbase anywhere, these are 261mm, or 10.2" fixed wheelbase.

Thanks! I placed my order here. I was going to wait until my local HT had them, but 1) impatient, and 2) going to the same bank account.

AE is definitely getting faster with filling their pre-orders. My DS showed up today.

We need someone with inside info on what the next ReRe will be. CE? Worlds? Graphite? Coffin Graphite? TQ10? T2?

I looked at that as well and noticed the DS uses buggy rear arm mounts -- with two sets of mounting holes.
The instructions have you installing the screws in the short wb position so maybe 10.4" is possible??
