Sorry vintage AE, but yes it has gone way off-course, but if Kubrick is brought up it's worth it! All his stuff is great, but The Shining is in a class all it's own. Yes, it seems an obvious choice for a huge horror fan like myself, but it's the ONE AND ONLY movie that was better than any of Stephen King's books! Although as a purist when it comes to horror I consider it more of a thriller. Still in my top 5 faves of all time: Director and movie...
