Absolutely nothing special.

Just a 305 pulled from a wrecked mid 80's Camaro with a mild cam and an Edelbrock performer intake. We had it in my dad's 55 for a short time while his 327 was being built. It's a smooth running engine, and for what I plan on doing with the car (cruisin') it'll be just fine.

Trans is a 200-4r from a wrecked 87 Monte SS. Having the overdrive will be nice.

I recently finished up a restoration of an old Oldsmobile sign that used to hang in dealer showrooms back in the day. The wood frame and brushed metal pieces were in decent shape. The plastic pieces had problems. Peeling paint, holes, and lots of cracks. They're also very brittle so I had to be gentle while working on them.
So I stripped the pieces, fixed all of the damage and repainted them.
Gave the wood a fresh coat of polyurethane and cleaned up the metal panels. Then got them all glue back together.

Very nice restoration job on the Olds sign Scr8p! I visited an Oldsmobile Museum last summer near Holt Michigan. Below is a photo of the fully working scale car the Olds founder made for his children. Amazing attention to detail.

I think I have pics of those 2 from the '09 Olds National Convention in Pittsburgh. They had them inside the host hotel.

I finished up the polishing on my dad's henry j last night. Looks a lot better, and makes it harder to tell that there is fresh paint at spots. Actually surprised how well it came up.

A wise man once told me it's not about just throwing fresh paint on it, but how well you match the original patina of the old paint.

Yeah, that's why I used lacquer paint to match the look and texture of the original paint. The plan was to put flattener in the color to try an match the rest of the car. But, he wants to have the car lettered up at some point so I wanted to get all of the oxidation off before hand which in turn would give me what I have now. So thats what I tried to match.

It'll take a little, but eventually, it should all dull back down evenly.

My dad got his Henry J lettered up this week, turned out great.
And I want to send a shout out to j-sou who helped me out with his design skills to lay it all out on a picture so we could get an idea of what it would look like before the paint brush touched it.
