This is my version of a FOFF - Home brewed.
G-made cage combined with graupner "hilti" truck.
Need some padle tires though.

Nice build, what tire/wheel combo are you going for?

With regards to that video I posted, I eventually found the build thread on rccrawler and it got mixed reviews. There was a lot of concerns with body roll, swaybars and high c of g. Looks cool though. Not very good for foff, but with some sway bars and fine tuning I bet it does fine on the rocks.

Thanks - I haven´t found any yet. But if I keep these axles, it´ll have to be 17mm hex.

ordered a set of G-Made G-transition 90mm 1/10 scale red shocks today. I also went for the aluminum shock mount upgrade for the Wraith and red ARB aluminum diff covers.

I think I have all the aluminum parts from the chassis down. I give it a week before more upgrades come out and I have to spend more money

Parts have been adding up and got a bunch more goodies in today so I decided to start the build. Here are some to give you the direction of where this is going

Here is the Land Cruiser emblem set


Yeah, that's the start of a Satoshi grill. The plan is to get a black aluminum mesh back and paint that Toyota emblem white


The sponsor decals will be applied to an Ivan Steward paint job similar to this one. Panels are going to be added to the sides to give it the SUV look though



Also some ARB diff covers for some extra cool factor...don't worry I got one for each axle


I'm going to install these G-transitions with droop as the setup

So far just got the tear down began

I've got a bit further into my build. Only a couple snags here and there.

To spread money out I ordered some STRC linkages through ebay and ended up only getting one upper linkage set through RC4WD. I found out that the STRC upper linkage is way too long compared to the RC4WD upper linkage. It could be that the STRC set uses a shorter rod end, I don't know? I'm going to just trim it and drill and tap a new hole. Here are some photos to explain.




Another slow down is not getting all the hardware that is supposed to be included in the GH Racing skid plate. I only had 3 pins for the lower linkages and 3 screws for the upper linkages.


Since I had mismatched linkages and not enough hardware to assemble everything, I mocked it up as much as I could. There are some blown bearings in the left knuckle that I will have to replace. I cut off the unused arms of the STRC knuckles. I'm going to paint the Level 3 steering linkage black. Eventually, I hope to get the RC4WD chassis mounted servo kit and some XVD cvds if anyone ever gets them in stock.


The red accessories are popping out nicely so far, even with the aluminum dust all over it I need washers next to all the balls on the rod ends so I will order a truck load of red washers...maybe black would be better. I'm not sure if I want a bunch a washers standing out.

Looks sweeter now that the cage is on. I just stuck the used HR steering link on for the photo. Thinking ahead to all the scale stuff and I feel like the end is so far away.

Although that's not my gig, that's a very nice build!

I just noticed you're using the same style of wheels I chose for Barney, except you went with the chrome inners & different beadlock rings. It's a nice look for your truck!

I agree, it's a good look, but these aluminum wheels are still going to be my final choice. Since I'm going with a Toyota off road theme and Walker Evans is a big name in Toyota scene, these are a must. I just hope I'm patient enough to buy everything I want before I start using it.

All of these trucks you guys are working on are very cool. I have been working on one for a while on and off also. heres mine, I was going a little more scale. I started off with a Dingo but have changed out all the links and wheels tires, and the body for a Proline Bronco Body. I have a full light kit I havent put on yet. but the Fog lights on the Bumper are Ram and work great. I did loose a lense out of one of them crawling up the couch and table in the living room.
