I thought he was still trying to get paint off the plastics, had not seen the post regarding the painted over anodized Hot Trick aluminum mount
But you can always try Lacquer thinner the Ano should be able to handle it and the paint will hate it

And it smells good too

Yeah the castrol caught me off guard, I use Awesome a lot and it has attacked anno so I was trying the castrol- it was almost immediate. I bet it works better than oven cleaner for removing anno!

Alright gurus, I need some advice. I have replaced most of the plastic components with vintage parts from ebay, because the 25 year old paint is being very stuborn and I dont have the rest of my life to scrape paint. ( I soaked the parts for days and days in brake fluid and it softened the paint up, but still had to be manually scraped off. Same result with Simple Green. My original parts were pretty bashed up anyway...)
So below is one of my old arms rear arms on the left with the replacement on the right. The forward hinge boss is probably 1/8" narrower on the replacement. Why would they have narrowed that, it looks like they came that way? Are the arms with the narrower bosses off a later car, i believe mine to be a late Edinger or early Cadillac? So now the pins I have are too long and would look silly. Should I source shorter pins? Would it be a "crime" to put the wrong arms on my car, which will otherwise be period correct? Any thoughts?

Did you try Easyoff oven cleaner yellow can and cap on painted arms?Gresed lightning can take some forms of paint.don

In the past I've just used the longer pins. As long as the onside fits well, the outside doesn't really matter.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll try Easy-Off as a last ditch effort. I need some to strip the annodizing off my shocks anyway...
If that doesn't do it, I'll just run the arms I bought with the long pins.

Progress! I got off my ass tonight and finally died all the parts that have been preventing me from putting this biotch together:


Then started the assembly. I know the blue screws are not right for this period car, but they were what I had. I like the way that they look, but maybe I'll swap them out with the gold colored screws on my a-stamp. Anyway, for now here we go...

Hot Trick motor plate for putting an MIP SRB trans into an RC10, before they made an RC10-specific trans. The gold anno was a spot-on match to the gold of the early cars like mine








The shocks are still a filthy mess, I need to take them apart, clean, and re-assemble. I might remove the anno from them, it's pretty beat up anyway, especially the Kyosho fronts. Also need to put the MIP trans back together. Other than that, put in the electronics, finish trimming the body, and apply the decals. Decided I'm going to leave the body clear, but add the decals, since it's going to be a shelf queen, that way the cool parts will be visible . Also because I'm lazy and don't like painting, lol
