Good buy. That's an original style clod in the "metallic special" version that tamiya offered.

Nope, not a metallic special, this is from way before that was released.

That is most likely a CCP (custom chrome parts) chassis. They tood stock tamiya parts and chrome plated them.

It has some nice aluminum upgrade parts on it with old-school trinity motors, and duratrax aluminum oil shocks. It looks like it has bumpers, lift kit and lower chassis brace from ESP.
Great catch!

I didn't know anyone chromed the chassis aftermarket wise anyway. I noticed all the other upgrades, so it's a heck of a buy. That chassis has to be worth something then isn't it?

Yeah, back in the 80's and 90's you could have pretty much any Tamiya truck fully chromed. CCP chromed pretty much every Tamiya truck part.

Cool little time capsule there, nice pick up.

Those are some very nice Clods! I have one that I will be restoring soon (probably a fall project), I have just about ammased all teh parts I need for the project. I have a question, what motors do you guys suggest? I would like more power then the stock silver cans. I was thinking of a pair 19T, but might not be enough torque. I have a pair of Traxxas Titan 550s but I was not very impressed with them in my E-Revo, and I am not sure how well they fit any way. My project will be basically stock, maybe a few mods just to make it a little stronger, but essentially it will be stock.

Here's the latest progress on the Clod I picked-up at the swapmeet from the previous page. Just replaced the radio tray and the missing battery cups and eveything else cleaned up well . I will probaly lock the rear , install a Super Rooster and it should be ready to go. Hopefully those old Trinity's still have some life in them.

The paint was in pretty bad shape and there were some crack that needed to be fixed. So out came the Easy-Off and this is were I'm at now. I let it soak overnight since there was four coats of paint on it  Will probaly go with an orange or blue body with some speed stickers.

That's looking pretty good.

I run traxxas 550's and evx-2 esc in mine. It is quite a bit faster than stock. Anymore that that on a stock chassis would be hard on it. I am upgrading to a twin brushless kit this winter. That should be fun.
