When I was just a pup I often visited the Chicago Temple.
The view from the very top was amazing. On a good day a paper airplane would fly forever between buildings, going higher and farther and then out of sight.
My Grandfather would frown on that behavior though.

It was one of the tallest buildings in the windy city.
I went back a few years ago to see the Temple again.
Today, sadly, it's a just footnote in the tallest buildings in Chicago.
Thanks for the memory.

Chuck

Chicago is an amazing city - I've been there many times.
I've visited the top of Sears Tower on one occasion and I'm embarrassed to say that I could hardly pry myself away from the elevators.
The view from that height is breath taking and a little frightening at the same time.

One of my main reasons for coming here was to have a steak at Gibson's. 22 ounces cooked at 1800 degrees F to a perfect medium rare. Went last night and geeked out a little. Comes pretty naturally to me, hence the toy cars. The food here has all been amazing.

What are those green things obscuring the view of the steak?

Now that 'stairs' pic is cardworthy....... yep, we can work with that. Very "grand entrance".... kind of a cross between the Prom, the Miss America pageant, and something from Kindig Customs.....

Thanks so much

The circled area is the Chicago Temple.
When I went there it was the 3rd tallest building in Chicago!
It had the tallest spire in the world!
I could see all of Chicago.
Thick glass front doors with polished brass handles, elevator operators with white gloves and lots of leaded stained glass.
What a change. It looks so small.

Looks like you're enjoying some good grub, downtown Chicago can be a lot a fun for sure. Right before meeting the wife, I had a lady friend who lived in Bucktown and we'd often frequent downtown. Was some good times.

I've made CAD drawings for a few of those hi-rises downtown, all the concrete construction drawings that is. Trump tower was the first skyscraper I worked on.

The thing is, thumbs are special. They're the one finger that is detachable. His thumb may have been given back to him for the photo.

WOW, that guy is blessed to be alive - and to simply drive away - amazing.

Anyway, an honest to goodness Texas Twister caught on video.

An old high school buddy of mine paid me a visit recently.
While he's definitely added a few pounds during the past 44 years (class of '78), with the 'stache we couldn't decide if he looks more like Wilfred Brimley or Teddy Roosevelt.
He's a good guy either way and I was happy he stopped by.
